* My hip joint was still sitting incorrectly in the socket when I got up Wednesday. Getting dressed and out to collect Goth Millennial was a bit of an epic. I stayed in the car for errands. On my way inside I foolishly stepped up ont the sidewalk instead of hobbling around the long way for the ramp. The joint jumped out of it's spot, and settled in a worse location. This made getting inside and back to my apartment into an extra challenging adventure. Eventually Goth Millennial came back with the other crutch and I made it to the sofa.

We watched a bunch of Skate Canada with Tavy, Goth Millennial kindly fetching things and doing bits of housework and me doing the usual things to try to easy the joint, until Newest Millennial arrived. It was a really good visit and eventually during a hobble to the bathroom, the joint popped back into the proper position. This doesn't mean it doesn't hurt. It just means that the leg works well enough I don't need to lean on two crutches instead of one and I can sit up without it being extreme agony. The pain is still bad, even by my standards, but the odds are good of me not really hurting myself in a slow shuffle to get water or the like. Assuming the joint stays where it is meant to, it'll mend to what passes for reasonable soon enough.

With the exception of drink tea and eat dinner, I'm not enjoying anything my body is doing today.

* Spent Thursday in bed, babying the hip. It is still pretty bad. I did make progress on the Bloody Red baron reread, and Livia pretty much had me to herself, as Tavy moved to his heated bed on the sofa back after dark. Everything takes Forever when my legs are this bad. I didn't even make it to the computer until 1:30AMish. I have little hope of cleaner in the morning and they don't do forage delivery this week. My bedding desperately needs changing and I'm trying to work out if I should gamble on Tuesday or wait yet another week. Sigh.

On the upside, my sling is clean and dry. (It had to go in the wash because of Spillfest. Was that Tuesday? I run laundry Wednesdays lately because that means goth Millennial can get it out and hang it since it's too much for my failing arms.) I really need it today, so I am terribly happy to have the sling back. Bonus, in the interim I've worked out a two heating pad system that gets both my hip joint and shoulder at the same time, so i have that going to, though it's easier on my neck to alternate sling and pad still.

* Friday there were hours and hours of evening cat pets with the Emperor not making drama about turns and things. Then I had a particularly bad bout of spasms. I didn't start mitigation fast enough and ended up doing a two hour epsom and agony bath. On the upside, it has really helped my hip.

* Saturday's Freindfeast went well. It is possible I made too much pie.

* So there's this boomer in my building who hates Goth Millennial and has been low key hassling them for about two and a half years because he objects to them existing. It was small shit until recently when he started following them around and verbally harassing them in the hopes of figuring out which apartment they belong to. He followed us tonight, saying things like, "I hate you." About an hour later Goth Millennial went to take the trash out, and he threatened them and us with a three hundred dollar fine, which suggests his plan is to file complaints in the hopes that management will fine me into insolvency.

I have left an explanation of the situation for Management, asking what their procedure is for dealing with hallway harassment, pointing out that I am disabled and this is my medical aid, and that the problem has been going on for years and is escalating. I asked for 1. a plan to allow us to safely use the hallway, and 2. some assurance that we wouldn't be assessed frivolous fines as he has threatened to do.

Can you tell I've dealt with stuff like this before? I want their complaint to be the first thing management sees Monday morning. I want to be in with history and context before he starts lying to them.

I have also suggested that goth Millennial try to film it next time, as I'm pretty sure video of him following and threatening them while they politely ask him to leave them alone will speak for itself. He's very brazen and entitled.

Squirrel has pointed out that harassing and threatening the aid of a disabled person is a liability issue for management, which I hope will carry weight.

For the record, he is not a physical threat. He looks like has osteoarthritis and I'd bet he's in his 80's. Goth Millennial, while disabled, is tall and looks in good health. This is why we haven't phoned the police. There is zero chance of local PD doing a thing about verbal harassment from a frail old man aimed at counter culture people.

The threat here is to Goth Millennial's well being and to my housing.

So we're letter of the law and super duper customer service polite for the duration. We are documenting the shit out of it, in case it gets to the restraining order phase or the lawsuit phase our the he said they said phase with building management.

I don't trust management to DO anything about it, but I'm hoping us pointing out the threat of frivolous fines will make them look askance at his attempts to get them to levy massive frivolous fines, if you follow. I am hoping the wording of my complaint will suggest to them liability issues around housing discrimination and ADA issues.

* Last Sunday we got the interior ornaments up on the Halloween trees, but not the lights. It was just the newest Millennial and I. It was a really nice visit. * So remember how Peacehealth drove all the independent offices in four specialties out of business, thus forcing everyone to use their clinic, then closed those clinics to force everyone to go to their central clinic two counties to the south? And remember how both the Doctors who were running that clinic made a deal to operate out of a clinic a regional medical conglomerate was opening near the hospital? so instead of me spending all day on a sixty mile each way trek for my treatment I was using the last three months of skeleton crew treatment at old clinic which ended the last Thursday in September? Remember how they said we could all follow our doctors there?

Yeah, about that.

I've been dutifully calling ever two weeks to see if they were letting people schedule appointments yet. They sent out a letter saying they were open. I stayed up Tuesday to get in sorted. it was a whole drama because the automated maze to get to the scheduler was as much of a hassle as Peacehealth's and prone to dropping calls, forcing one to start from scratch each time. so that was frustrating and tine consuming.

Apparently they have no access to our health records, so it was a start from scratch situation. Me, mentally: Shit! This is going to be HOURS. Only it wasn't for all the wrong reasons. They take Medicare, but not Medicare Advantage. So if I want it covered I have to lose most of my benefits including having Medicaid pay my big Medicare copay. O.o. Or I can pay for expensive treatments myself as uninsured.

I was upset, but I remembered superstar medical social worker lady personally calling around town to talk dentists into taking medicare dental coverage for me thus opening up my small city so that medicare patients can now get root canals and crowns instead of learning to live without chewing.

So I still thought it was salvageable. Problem is she's gone and the woman replacing her is a busy supervisor who likes to call me two hours into my sleep cycle without warning and then gets angry at me for not being charming. Previous lady asked when was best to call and would schedule calls in advance for a time when I was able to be awake and functional. it is a lot easier for me to be charming when I wasn't just ripped out of REM sleep and am now being interrogated about something.

New lady is a supervisor and super busy with supervisor things and is made of no and is snippy. I can not make her understand that not only is a 120 mile round trip over mountain passes dealing with the traffic mess along the highway in the major metropolitan area where I once got caught in a four hour traffic jam and couldn't get off to pee, is an entire exhausting day for me and that plus a treatment would not only mean i could do anything useful that day, but the next day to. She can't grasp how much pain is involved in long car trips or how much treatments take out of me. She keeps hard selling me on this and then calling me resistant and recalcitrant like I'm the one being unreasonable for considering this basically insurmountable at my level of disability.

She did not fight the in town clinic for me. She did not try to argue them around.

Her, repeating a suggestion she has made over and over since the closing announcement: You should just get your GP to do it.

Me, explaining for at least the third time because we have this conversation every time we talk: I asked my GP last spring like you asked. They can't do it. It can't be administered by a GP. They'd need to hire a specialist and build new facilities for compounding and for special storage of medication.

Her: Well just ask you GP to give you a different treatment.

Me: There are no other treatments. I have medications to manage symptoms. These treatments are the cure. There is only one cure.

Her: You are being recalcitrant!

Me: There is literally only one cure. No new ones have been invented since last February. The cure is working. I'm getting better. i will get worse again with only symptom management.

But she kept arguing with me because I was being stubborn about facts being facts. My GP can't pull an entire brand new treatment regimen out of her ass. She would not let it go or let me go and I was exhausted because it was hours past when I would normally be asleep at this point and also what was the point of her hard selling me on demanding the imaginary alternative treatment or the 120 mile trip. I ended up giving and and saying something like, "I have to go now," which I know is rude, but we spent this entire conversation with her neither listing not understanding and basically acting like I was the asshole here.

So I'm fucked and I'm frustrated and angry. I was literally at the point where I was going to get better really quickly if I kept doing treatments, but if we stop now I'll be back to square one with it all to do again if another clinic opens.

And it's all like this because Obama and Biden didn't have the balls to stick to their universal free healthy care guns and decided to adopt the capitalist give away Republican health plan in pursuit of bipartisan buy in they did not get, which anyone paying attention told them they could not get, which Mitch McConnell vowed they'd never get as part of the project to make Obama a one term president at all costs. They burned all their political capital on a bullshit give away to insurance companies when they could have taken the same or less of a hit just giving up a developed country level health care system. No fucked up website needed for sign ups. No red tape or copays or catch 22 shit like I'm dealing with now.

* Tuesday, once I was allowed to sleep, people kept waking me up. Bonus, my legs weren't really working, so I just kept falling over. It's like this this time of year with the extreme temperature and barometric pressure changes. At one point during a food making attempt I managed to fuck up a toe on one side and the wrist on the other, Go me. This was an extra bad one though, and I really wasn't much functional just generally and everything was just incredibly hard to accomplish.

We did manage Wednesday errands, including the bit when I needed to get out of the car. Assorted Millennials puttered around with decorations and there was much chatting. Outside is started. The trees are mostly sorted inside, but not the rest.

At one point Goth Millennial was like, "did the barometer just drop?" and I was like, "I don't have a barometer, but according to my sinuses and joints, yes. It's the evening winds out of Alaska right on time. About five minutes ago right?" Them: "Yes. My shoulder just started hurting."

* When we were decorating Sunday, I was trying to explain to newest Millenial why the Weeping Angel tree topper horrifies Goth Millenial. "An image of an angel is an angel," etc., and they seemed really confused so I kept explaining the lore that makes them horrifying. Finally it became clear that they thought this was real angel lore, having no idea about either Doctor Who or Christian Mythology.

* Wednesday a week ago, I did extended errands with Head and Techie Millennial. One of the many, many things I appreciate about Head Millennial as a companion besides obvious things like high quality of conversation, is things like the following.

So we had to change plans at the last minute to pick up Techie Millennial at their place instead of the downtown bus station, which meant we were doing our downtown errands first, then going North to pick up techie for errands up that way. Techie's errand was time dependent and normally we would have been able to do our stuff in half an hour or so and even with the bit of commute, we'd be fine. It was one of those days though, where everything took two to three times as long as it ought to for reasons out of our control. Short errands that should be five minutes stretched and stretched. I ended up having to do a lot of extra standing. There was no close parking at forage, which burned time and spoons for me with the extra hobbling. (Luckily there was medium parking.) all this meant we hit rush hour on the highway going north. Sigh. Luckily the place Techie needed to go was open til 5:30, and we picked them up just before 5. It was fine.

So we get to the Ethical Grocery aka the good general grocery store. (Employee owned, excellent for workers, fair prices, Good selection.) I was fine, mostly, pain wise. My legs were okay, but I was tiring, since I blew my energy on things like standing in line and medium distance parking. I could shop free. Me to head Millennial: I'm trying to decide if I should use the electric cart. Head Millennial, a person who knows my level of stubborn and stoic: If you are even thinking about it, you need one. Me: sigh.

They were right, of course. I had very little left by the time we got home, and miles to go before I slept.

We had a great time after they finished working, eating frozen pizza and watching what We Do in the Shadows.

...and this is why election things didn't post Wednesday. I was exhausted. I had other online things I needed to do. There wasn't enough left for links to go up, only yet more link prep on breaking news. Thursday, I was so exhausted I kept falling back asleep and didn't make it online until well after midnight. Election results keep rolling out.

I am sorry.

* Monday: So what’s happening here is I’m trying very hard to get as many of last week’s results up as possible. Obviously, I don’t know local papers in every state, nor am I granular on state and local politics outside of the states I follow most closely.

The slowness on posting this stuff, is because I’ve been having the kind of week where my body keeps vetoing things and imposing naps.

I’m going to have to sleep sometime, so I don’t expect to finish or have the aggregate up today, judging from the volume I still need to plow through.

Again, one disabled person in fragile health doing this as a hobby. hard physical limits are hard physical limits.

* We stepped outside to take Head Millennial home Monday evening, and the air smelled weird and wrong. I was breathing like a fish out of water by the time we got to the car. The sky was the wrong colour. It didn't smell like Wildfire though it was definitely Fire.

We turned a corner and a pillar of smoke came into view. It was massive, but it didn't move ore spread noticeably at the base the whole time we could see it. My guess was something at the port, either a large ship or a building. We were close enough to see it was likely too close to the water to be any of the non-port things. It was still closer to Head Millennial's place than i like.

Nothing was on the print news, but the local paper is a rag with a strong bias and they make up quotes, so.... IDK. maybe we'll find out tomorrow.

It was disturbing, a pillar that big and high against a bright orange sunset with the darkening sky above an eerie greenish blue.

I am, at this point, pasted together with caffeine. I only had a couple of hours sleep and the pain is impressive. I will do what I can before the crash comes.
