* Sunday I got awakened by what turned out to be a really long, badly designed lumber industry push poll after an unsatisfying 5 or 6 hours of sleep It wasn't obvious it was a push poll from the early question rounds and by the time I worked it out and it got frustrating to deal with because of the design, I was too awake to go back to sleep. I eventually wandered out and discovered my primary ballot had arrived for the state and locals, so I did that after food and lungs.

There was also a letter from the HOA threatening to fine us because some neighbor hallucinated we had a dog, which, being imaginary, we had failed to register!?!?! I left them a message pointing out that we were cat people and registered as such if they'd check our file. My best guess at the time was some upper middle class asshole busy body saw our raggedy counter culture asses trying to catch Elder Kitty in the bushes last week and decided to fuck us over because, you know, we're not upper middle class assholes and they think we bring down property values just by existing.

The called me back today, and it turns out that the upper middle class busy body had zeroed in on the large, incredibly ugly, banana coloured...idk, range rover, maybe? Something like that. Anyway, it's massive an stands the fuck out, but we're counter culture people and I'm driving a rusted clunker that's old enough to hang around in bars if it were a person, and i'd have likely turned it in to an art car if I had more money, so I would never cast the first stone. Drive the fuck you like; it's none of my business unless you are endangering people, and I'm pretty sure other drivers can see them coming miles away. It parks next to the building disabled space and Asshole Busy Body decided it must be ours and therefore the nuisance loose dog must be ours. Not our space, not our vehicle, not our dog.

Case closed.

In other news, last night I found myself staring in utter bewilderment at John Cena's abs. My exhausted brain couldn't parse them at all. I think I'd forgotten some people's bodies looked like that and I just couldn't grasp the topography. in my defense my taste in men always ran along the lines from outright nerdy to wiry built runner or martial arts types. Like I and some of my guys lifted weights now and then, but not for bulking up, since what you want is enough core strength for endurance or enough strength to pack a good punch without fucking up your speed. It's working muscles, not body builder muscles. Like, occasionally one will see a body builder type in a movie or whatever, but they aren't images i seek out or particularly notice.

Also in my defense, I was dead exhausted all last night and couldn't concentrate for fuck and did no work beyond voting.

So not long after I the me trying to grasp that was real skin over muscle and not plastic over god knows what, Elder Kitty gets up on the desk, be moving my water to keep her from knocking it over and then lifting her over the wax melt thingie lest she hurt herself. The Emperor had been napping behind Rupert Laptop as he's wont to do. Me: Shit! There is about to be a fight on my desk!

Elder kitty wobbles over and sniffs him extensively for about a minute, before drifting off along the sofa arm root for a nap in the comfy chair. Tavy stared at her the whole time with much the same bafflement I had just experienced in contemplating Mr. Cena's torso.

Stroke brain damage confirmed.

She's perfectly happy and living her best life. We have to watch her because in her fearless state, she occasionally needs rescuing from decisions she'd not have made nine days ago. We definitely think she hasn't much time, but if she wants to spend what she has soaking up pets, sleeping in the best spots, and generally giving no fucks, good for her.

Anyway, no work at all was done Sunday, not even putting out the mostly finished Saturday news. I am deeply concerned by how worn out I am just from doing the library curbside pick up run and dealing with laundry, so odds are I'll post Saturday's aggregate before trying to tackle Sunday and Monday.

The woman one has doubts about being good enough for ops. It turns out she was one of the ones involved in the cover up at the academy, something Picard dresses her down for later, which explains why she's vaguely familiar, but that season was a while ago and I forgot. An ambitious Vulcan has lots of ideas for increasing efficiency and really annoying personality, even compared to the guy up for the ops job. The medical one has personal problems involving a relationship which is resolved with no real development later. There's also a civilian? IDK.

Something's going on and a bunch of the ensigns get barred from sick bay and the bridge while it's going on. Vulcan engineering guy keeps arguing with Mr. LaForge. He points out it looks like they are making it look like the shuttle was fleeing an attacker. The medical one is ordered to synthesize a liter of Cardassian blood for the person they beamed off the shuttle.

Both groups are playing poker separately and give each other advice regarding the other group. Riker agree to have a more open mind about Civilian one's attempts to ingratiate himself. Geordi decides to do the Vulcan's nacelle tests with him. Worf does a surprise martial arts test on the woman ops candidate, which she passes by saying the test it unfair. It's an object lesson about standing up for herself. She goes and tells Picard he's being unfair. It turned out this was a test and he'd requested her for the enterprise so she could get a fair shake. Now she's going on a dangerous mission with the Cardassian spy. She thanks Worf before going. The spy is angry about Ambitious ghuls warmongering, hence working with Starfleet.

The annoying male ops candidate pressures the others to tell him what's going on. The Vulcan and the medical one behave correctly, which leads to him pouting. I take back what I aid before. Ops man baby is way more annoying than the Vulcan. They find debris from the Bajoran ship. The Cardassians blew her up as an escapee. Picard does a beautiful eulogy.

I really wasn't feeling this one. Everything felt too obvious.

* I got polled twice on health care based stuff in 24 hours. The first one was elaborate and very clearly PeaceHealth trying to see if their propaganda effort has managed to make people forget they barred their staff from wearing PPE in February, risking their lives and long term health and then fired and black listed the whistleblower. I made very clear I hadn't forgotten as they had one of those comment section tipe things towards the end. I did distill my objections dow to three soundbite things, which the nice man laboriously wrote down. The other had to do with local COVD response and was both neutral and not very illuminating since the answers allowed did not remotely match my opinions. I made due.

Bonus: I also got two of those Credit card number scam robocalls in 24 hours. Clearly someone got a batch of brand neew autodialer numbers, which means a month or more of interrupted sleep for me as I drop an old number from the list and add a new until I hit homeostsis again. 25 slots isn't close to enough.

Use the pandemic as an excuse for corruption and chronieism. 5. literally steal medical supplies from the VA and blue states to sell on the open market as a give away for rich profiteers and revenge against democratic governors. 6. Make it illegal for workers to sue fr CDC recommended safe conditions in meat packing plants which are spreading infection through their communities and killing people in droves thus removing all recourse and forcing workers to choose between infection and losing their jobs and benefits. 7. Blocking any plan designed to protect actual humans and keep them housed and able to pay bills while turning on the corporate welfare spigot and driving small businesses out of business. 8. Force economies open in areas where the pandemic is escalating fastest in order to maximize deaths, while knowing full well that killing all these people and driving small businesses to bankruptcy by withdrawing support when people are too afraid to patronize them will actually do more economic harm in the long run than lockdowns and will kill vastly more people than following the administrations own published health policy. 9 call on people to gather in large numbers in order to infect as many people as possible for the political and financial gain of those in power.

* When I went out to collect the cat food shipment today, I was scooting it back through the lobby with my foot while balancing on one crutch. I heard a door open in the hall. Luckily, they were down the other t, and the man waited with his head poking out instead of blythely proceeding as some of the Grad Students are apt to do. He saw me gimping along pushing the heavy box and huffing and puffing. Get this: he asked if I wanted a hand while staying in his doorway well over safe distance away. I thanked him, but explained I was high risk so best not. so polite and kind! He looked my ageish, though I'm bad at working these things out as people younger than me are sometimes all or mostly grey, but some are like me so idk. Genetics re weird. Also, he was masked up and at a distance. He had grey streaks though so odds are my agish: old enough to be considerate and vary; young enough to risk himself for a weird elder goth on a crutch. Anyway, it was textbook etiquette, I thought. He waited until I was scooting the thing inside to leave.

We're holding up well here supply wise. We have enough paper products for the nonce. We have about 2 month's supply of cat food carefully stockpiled as of today's shipment. Plan is to order the normal amount next month and rotate. Given shipping delays and lack of local supply I feel so much safer now we have a cushion instead of running out or nearly running out each time. The Millenials plan to go shopping soon and they have my list.

In bad news, I went out to drive the car around to keep the battery good during router reboot and discovered it wasn't. Let's hope Squirrel can recharge it for me when he gets home.

* Livia has discovered she is bigger and stronger than Tavy. She defended her favorite perch from him by herself last night instead of me having to remove him. She growled and batted him without claws every time he tried to take a liberty and eventually he went away. She washed her face like a superhero then gave me the blinky eyes and settled down to enjoy it peacefully.

* Wednesday a friend came over and we spent all evening cleaning. She focused on the floors and I dismantled the storage shelves. I think Squirrel must have come home not long after the accident, as it could easily have been a hundred times worse. It miraculously didn't seep into the hall closet. It got under the storage shelves, but not nearly as badly as i expected and didn't reach Squirrel's meat freezer at all. There was splash and drip everywhere, and I'm still finding lost spots, but the smell is gone and it is pretty well sorted. There is still plaster dust on fr too many surfaces, but my floors are clean.

Given the scale of the Disaster it would have taken me days to clean by myself. As it was Squirrel's quick action and my mop wielding friend really did save us all.

Not surprisingly, the pain level is stunning. I will do my best to make a dent in the last couple days of news, but I'm heavily medicated so quality may be not up to snuff.

* Tuesday: We're extending my antibiotic an extra few days, which makes sense. I was really bad today, but this evening I'm noticeably improved, if still ugh. It's a slow process.

In a renovation plot twist, the toilets arrived unexpectedly, so we now have gorgeous new, properly installed toilets that do not leak or wobble.

Livia and Tavy hid all day in her favorite hide. They heard the Strangers leaving and e making it's safe sounds, so when I looked down their two little anxious faces were peering up at me. i wish I could have taken a picture.

Squirrel and I voted today, as the ballots came in the mail. It was the periodic referendum for school funding and infrastructure upgrade funding. I always vote yes for school and infrastructure funding, in case you were curious.

Remember Folks, vote in every primary and election, no matter how small.

* Wednesday: I did do a bunch of prep and reading Tuesday night, but had to lie down rather suddenly and couldn't post all I had to tumblr, let alone finish off the dreamwidth aggregation.

Today was the dentist, nice older lady I hadn't seen before, who I heard refer to me as a "very good patient" and cool as a cucumber. It was a pretty easy cavity, towards the front and not deep. I'm scheduled for a free revision on the problematic molar in March which I'm looking forward to getting solved.

It was a pretty chill day here at the cat asylum. The emperor was not best pleased by me leaving the bed. The Empress ate her shreds without drama and has been alternating snack/pettins/ sofa back lounging, with sitting in the living room window. She would very much like the Gazebo bird show to come out of hiatus, but he wind is putting on a decent show, so it's not so bad.

So apparently an oversized extended bowl toilet is definitely an improvement. Props to the guy who wrote up the specs for getting me some. I made sure squirrel had the new key before h went to work. I still need to test them myself properly, but my foot is terrible today, so it'll have to wait.
