* I heard back from the program for disabled and elderly people needing fixes on things like plumbing. I have until Monday after next to get my bureaucracy in order and clean the house, but it's my best chance for getting things like the exterior door and the plumbing fixed. Luckily I restarted my meds this evening. Hopefully I'll have it enough together by Monday to do the paperwork rounds and scavenger hunt.

I am just blown over by the proposed change to food stamps. I mean, everything else that's happening is bad, but this one is just particularly shitty. Especially given that people are expecting a recession, this is not the time to take away the one benefit that sees easiest for people to get (Which is saying something, considering how difficult it is in many states to get, and how little money it offers.)

It is also right up there with Social security, and Unemployment insurance for stimulating local economies. I don't know current figures, but during the Bush recession those were all worth 1.20-1.30 for every dollar spent, while tax cuts for the rich are generally about .30 for every dollar cut. If what you want to do is help the economy you rescind all those tax cuts and you expand and/or increase SSI, Unemployment, and EBT since those are you best economic bang for your buck while having minuscule cheat rates and massively decreasing human misery.
