The effects of Trump’s decision, paradoxically, will only deepen the divisions driving the wars in both Turkey and Syria, and make the global fight against terrorism more difficult. The anti-Kurdish hostility behind last week’s invasion has also led Turkey to tolerate, and even support, Isis and al-Qaida in Syria, simply because those forces are also fighting the Kurds."

Poor Tavy is really hungry, so last night I slipped him some of the old kibbles while Livy was napping and put them away when she came to investigate. (Tavy is not a goosh fan just generally.)

Look, I know I sound like broken record, but seriously, this is how we save democracy. PRIMARIES MATTER. This is when you get to decide if a candidate you like is up for election in November. Three of the four people I voted for today are candidates I'm REALLY EXCITED ABOUT. The forth? Was by far the lesser weevil. By a lot (One guy dropped out in May for reasons involving black out drinking and sexual assault), and I'll take the lady Ii can live with over some dude I can't, which were the other choices.

I know off year elections aren't exciting, but they matter. Who your state and local government officials are effects your quality of life on a daily basis. Is your water safe to drink? Do you have the right to chose? Do you have health care? Is your districting fair? Does the place you live emphasis drug and mental health diversion or locking up the poor and denying services.

Also? If you vote in primaries you have a lot more time to fight it if the Republicans knock you off the voter rolls. If you vote in off year elections, you get a whole year to fight disenfranchisement for next time. It's harder to have your citizen rights taken away if you are there every damned time voting for someone who will share at least some of your values and fight for you, instead of letting the MAGAs pick who makes those decisions.

Because you know who votes in off year primaries? Elderly Republicans. If you sit on your hands, they get to decide the quality of life where you live.

So go out there and vote. Find candidates you like and talk your friends into voting. In primaries, vote for whoever the fuck you like. November is for pragmatism.

Washington State: Watch your mail boxes, and if you haven't got a ballot by next weekish, remember you can always get a replacement at City Hall. (If you do this only vote once. Shred and toss the mail ballot if it turns up late).

Whatever you do? VOTE! Every office, every ballot measure, every primary and main. If you aren't sure who to vote for, check candidate bios in the voter guide, and if you still can't pick check endorsements online.

* I had a ton of other important things to do today. I'm still recovering from being sick, and the lung infection is striking back. I nearly passed out coughing this evening. I really, really need to forage and pick up meds and my library books. I physically could not quite get it together in time to do any of those things. (I could have done all of them if I cold have managed upright a half hour sooner). Instead I wasted 9.00 on emergency bags of perogies and some Popsicles, because the back half of this month while I wait for the Doctor is going to be outright terrible, and I had to change a tank tonight and have another go at the pee soaked sofa cushions. Those things, I managed. I do think the odoban is an improvement.

Squirrel has ordered a plastic cover for the sofa. I have concerns. He didn't measure the sofa (I would have seen him do it). I do not want to sit on plastic, especially in the heat, but I'm thinking I can cover the sofa when I'm asleep, as that seems to be pee time. We'll se how it goes.

* Elder Kitty is ill, which explains her uncharacteristic behavior the last few of days. The imperial couple seem fine so far, though Livia is clearly stressed out because of LM's behavior. I'll be watching them for signs of change. I did both liters last night and not trouble there, though I'm keeping an eye out. LM is very old and has been having digestive issues the last year plus. Up until Monday night she's been the most active and mentally alert this half year than she's been since the last of her original cohort died several years previous. She's herself enough to be her usual grumpy self with the Imperial couple and defend her turf, and is still eating and drinking, so we're just keeping an eye on her in case she worsens.

* So I could not find anything in the pharmacy marked "tefla pads" and the array was bewildering with entirely unhelpful packaging. The thing I spent seven dollars on yesterday was not even close, it turned out despite being large "pads" and in the bandage section with packaging that lied they could be used as bandages. I am itchy and in pain and discouraged and my attempt to use the not bandages as bandages so I could the fuck sleep was not particularly successful. Everything i have left this month is earmarked for bills and gas, none of which I can skip. I can't gamble bill money that the next thing really is bandages and not another lie, so i'm the fuck stuck with it, as I forgot to put "tefla pads" in the OTC order for this quarter.

Which is disappointing as fuck, BTW. I had made a big list to try. They carry vitamins, but none are vegetarian, so I'll still have to by my require meletonin, B-complex, and multi-vitamin (To counter leaching from my other meds) myself. They carry toothpaste and mouth wash, but peppermint, only, so useless to me. She's like you could just look in your catalog to see if we have vegetarian vitamins. Me: That would be nice if I had one, yes.

Let's all hope the big ass first aid kit comes with tefla pads shall we, and that they mail it soon.

* I got crap sleep, but managed to dress and be conscious when phone bureaucracy called 15 minutes early. To postpone until Tuesday, the motherfuckers. So I have to do this again for the sake of a horrible hour and a half long phone call I do not want to have in which there will be a million boring and intrusive questions and I must charm the new caseworker. I just wanted it the fuck over with so they'll leave me alone for another year. It was a last minute all staff meeting their end apparently. At least new caseworker follows the don't call before 3PM note in my file and does scheduling instead of waking me up at ten AM for surprise interrogation. Sigh.

* I periodically talk about my long term desensitization project. Part of why I do that is because I think a lot of time trauma feels so big and immutable that it can be really discouraging, particularly in the early stages of dealing with it. I wish I'd known what the other side might look like back when I was doing the hardest part of the work in my late teens. So this is what the the side looks like.

I think I may have finally hit some sort of tipping point were instead of chip, chip chipping away, progress is just so much faster. Enough to take my breath away. The first time I watched Hannibal it was so triggering, I had to give up early in second season. Today I passed the point where I gave up a few years ago and I haven't been triggered once. It's not like all the things done to me are undone, but it's fascinating for me to watch something that jumped up and down on a whole complex of some of my worst triggers and just feel ordinary watching a TV show things. I couldn't have really imagined that in my twenties despite how diligently I worked at defusing mines one by one. So often in the last half decade I've stepped gingerly, expecting explosion and nothing much happened, or only the ghost of an echo. I think this is what mostly healed looks like. The things that shaped me really are turning into just things that shaped me, some of which I still have feelings about, but which aren't anything like a minefield anymore.

The work was always worth it, even in the beginning when progress was hard to measure, and I plan to keep at it in future, because there will likely still be odds and ends to find and deal with. I just really did want to remind people that how you feel right now doesn't have to be forever. The work is worth doing and it really can get so much better no matter how bad it gets in the now.
