Yes. In fact, when they made the purchase decision, they ordered them from Boeing.

Because Air Force One needs to be free of Surveillance and/or Sabotage, everyone involved in building the plane needs an appropriate security clearance, which is why it's taken a decade since the original purchase order, and why it won;t be read until likely 2027.

Just deciding who was working on the plane and doing an FBI background check on each of them takes a while. Everything needs lots of extra checks for safety and security. Anyone they need to replace needs a replacement with the right security clearance level, etc..

Trump tried to rush them last time he was President and also tried to do tackier redesigns.

* It's been an exhausting week. I was having one of my random insomnia things, so getting to sleep takes hours and hours. I was also having a week where people keep phoning me and waking me up, which meands I lose 1-2 hours of sleep each time gto try to get back to sleep. Plus multiple apointments and obligations that mean the amount of time scheduled for sleep isn't fremotely sufficient even if their weren't also insmnia and phones also stealing sleep.

I got my last cavity for the six month cycle filled, and so we start again in July. Sigh.

Squirrel is still behind on bills after the great scamming. I am behind on bills because I've been carrying a small portion of theirs since... September? I think it was September. Whenever it was that the Great Scamming and The Special Assessment hit us. (Like both things started in August, but them not having the money they were supposed to have to help with the Special Assessment because of the Great Scamming. Was that September? I don't remember at this point.) Okay, technically not behind on bills, as I'm paid up on everything due as of today, but there are things I won't be able to cover that hit later.

On the upside, Squirrel did get the bereavement leave pay they were promised, then told they likely wouldn't get. Them getting paid is essential, because the Strike is officially on. Apparently their union does picket line in shifts and they are already signed up. The Strike is completely justified, btw. Their Employer is being a dick. We are just generally pro-Union as a household, but for real, they were being jerked around and are owed some back pay, which gives you an idea.

There is a strike fund, apparently, so there is hope of them being able to draw from it. Mostly, we just need to hold on.

They are doing a food drive in the complex, which is helpful. We don't get to pick what comes in forage boxes. We give away things we literally can't use because of medical dietary restrictions etc. to other poor people, but there is always stuff nobody wants. New Millenial was kind enough to come over Friday and go through stuff to figure out which things the friend group wants (sorting them into boxes by household), and which things to give away. I managed to drag two boxes out to the collection area after midnight for Saturday afternoon pick up.

Our stuff was the only stuff out there. Nada. Not a single can or bag of flour. O.o

Look, I'm not judging the grad students who sublet here. They are poor like us. I am absolutely judging all those middle and upper middle class people who whine about minor shit and think everyone who lives here should be able to pull thousands of dollars out of their asses at short notice, and are happy to embezzle funds for a gate we don't need that was never going to work (I told them it wouldn't. I listed all the reasons. They ignored me.), but who can't be bothered to contribute aven a can of tuna to the community around them.

Look, I never liked any of them. I voted for someone else in the relevant primaries. I voted for each of them once (I voted independent the time I was pretty Bill'd win, given the polling and I lived in a sapphire blue state, so I was trying to pile votes to the left in hopes it'd help encourage less republican lite style policies. It did not work.)

I've disliked Biden since I was old enough to notice him back in the '80's. I have some serious fucking grudges around things like his treatment of Anita Hill and putting Clarence Thomas on SCOTUS even though he KNEW what he was like, all sorts of racial policing policy things (See also Clintons), etc.. (Some Millennial friends who'd known me for ages when Joe entered the primary and I started posting lots of articles on terrible things that were living history for me, were like: We knew you really didn't like him, but we didn't know why until now. Me: There was no point in rehashing it until now).

I've hated Bill since the first sexual abuse things came out in the primary where I voted against him, and my list of grudges from the '90's is loooong.

Hillary, I disliked less in the '90's in part because the coverage of her tended to be incredibly sexist and gross, but then she joined the senate and the grudges started piling up and also, any time Hillary did anything, the Rapist in Chief's smarmy rights stealing make everything worse ass was back in public too.

I threw up in my mouth each time I voted for one of them, but what other choice did I have when the other side was always so much worse, and often outright nightmare fuel?

Fuckssake, haven't the three of them done enough damage? Harmed or particularly in Biden's case, killed enough people? When will they go the hell away?

I generally don't have patience with hospital shows.

This one? Oh fuck, this one! It ate my head for the three days it took to inhale the whole season.

Wylie said in an interview, he'd sworn he'd never do another hospital show, but after COVID he and... I forget the other guy's name, wanted to do one to honor what hospital staff deal with and the kind of stress they are under with everything going on in the world.

That's why I gave it a try and it id just so good.

I love how quietly political they decided to be in ways that aren't preachy, but organic. I love how hard they worked to humanize people who are so often dehumanized in our culture. I loved the anger and the empathy.

I need to warn you this is a really intense show. Real in a way that most things just aren't. All of it in one day? Not so realistic, but the format allowed them to revisit characters and times at various points in a way a show that wasn't One Hour = One Hour can't. Because they aren't wrapping story lines up at the end of the hour they began, things intersect in ways they just wouldn't normally. The sense of time matters. The main characters are busy and when you get back to someone you realize how long the intervening time must have felt for the patient/family.

IDK, it's hard to explain, just: This is powerful in a way that I've never seen before, and damned important. I can only hope this reaches the people who need to see it.

As a trans person who is not a Christian, I was not a fan and I side eye a bunch of things that happened under his watch as far as cover ups and corruption. That said, he was better than I had any hope of him being and so much better than predecessors in so many ways and on so many issues. He DID represent progress, even though he didn't go as far as one would wish. His anti-authoritarian moves were important.

I am really worried about what comes next.

* Wednesday, on my way out the door to collect Millennials for group errands, I found a bureaucracy packet. Worryingly, it was not the standard bureaucracy packet. O.o It takes the same documents I already had assembled for the late April or early May bureaucracy, which helps, but also suggests a second, more complicated bureaucracy will arrive soon.

I worked on it the whole time Millennials were here, and finished it, except for the one piece I need someone to print off the computer. Last time I circled and labelled the relevant items on the bank statements and it worked out. It would be better to belt and suspenders it, but in any case I hope to drive the packet and documents up there for copying, stamping, and filing.

I like to turn them in as early as I can just generally, but speed is extra important now, given the givens.

Bonus I have all the items ID number marked so when I have to take them back to the same office within the month that will speed things up a bit on my end. *eye roll*

I did not sort the things assorted people dumped on the floor and shoveled back in the wrong place repeatedly last Summer and Autumn, but I need to. I keep a year of documents out in case there is random surprise bureaucracy in the off season (Which really does happen). I just need to go through them now before boxing them for seven year storage, in case something got in there that shouldn't.

So that's a couple hours, but less urgent.

It did eat my whole evening, alas.

* One of the things we got out of last week's marathon bureaucracy is Goth Millennial is getting paid to be my aid again. We also carved out eight hours a month for New Millennial. They started getting paid for their work Wednesday.

Let us hope I get to keep my home care aid hours. We should find out soon.

I took them both on Wednesday errands, which was delightful. I used the motorized cart and spent as much time as possible while waiting things in the car with my seat reclined, reading. When we got back I was exhausted, but we also needed to do a full sofa change for the second day in a row because the emperor is being above and beyond destructive just now.

Them: I haven't seen you this exhausted after errands in months.
Me: I kept having to use all the spoons last week. There is a price for that.

This is a reminder for those of you who are not disabled or are recently disabled that this is what pushing through DOES when you are disabled. Yes, the Millennials got their job stuff sorted out and I'm re-certified as still disabled (Every five years I need to prove to various agencies that my spine hasn't spontaneously regenerated to a pristine state, nor my joints, nor my lungs.) and I've shored up my SSI stuff best I can, and we got the cleaning done in time for both inspections, etc., etc. But I'm pretty much going to be fucked physically for a couple of weeks and I got way behind on EVERYTHING last week because there wasn't anything left most days so I kept going to bed hungry and very early and didn't do the stuff I can normally manage.

I am going to be paying and paying and paying.

Tavy did get a nice cuddle nap on me, then go sit on Goth Millennial for a while for pettins until the humans needed to rearrange themselves for dinner.

* Something has gone dramatically wrong with my bank account. I suspect paypal allowed a secret autowithdraw again at exactly the wrong time, which I will need to track down, as a bill I'd scheduled to pay with more than enough money in the account rather suddenly caused an overdraft. (I checked it wasn't Amazon prime randomly reactivating again, but it's a pain in the ass finding the right tab on paypal. I will do that next.) I had some cash I'd socked away at the beginning of the month in case I needed it for inspection cleaning. I put it back in in time to patch the hole, but when Insuarnce auto-withdraws hit, I am fucked. I think $70.00 would cover those plus fees.
