Squirrel brought home flu from work. We're both vaccinated, of course, but fly mutates and it's clearly a partial coverage situation. squirrel was quite ill last night, but is feeling a bit better. I'm goopy and generally experiencing the ick, so it is possible it's the cold the Millennials have right now rather than influenza. Or both! It's so hard to tell with me. I'm on some very serious anti-nausea meds because that's the only way I can take my other meds and function, so that can mask symptoms, but I think I'd have break through nausea if it were influenza and this is more like a very bad cold on top of all the other things wrong with me both for the last two months and, you know, just generally. I'm at the point with the thing that's been wrong with me since early January where i'm wondering if this is new normal or if i'll start improving soon.
In any case I've got exhaustion on top of the exhaustion I already had, moving is extra difficult and painful, and I feel like crap.
So is this not the perfect time for Something to go terribly wrong with the Plumbing? Sigh.
Something is leaking into the hall from our washer/dryer area. People from the HOA banged on my door and came in without masks. Joke's on them there for refusing masks, for I am the contagious one, and they startled me. We had no visible water this side, so I wasn't aware. The man was able to look behind and there is water where I can't see, apparently.
So now I am barred from laundry, which is a problem because the Emperor Octavian is making a shocking amount of laundry every day. (Tavy is two months at least in on refusing to pee in the box mostly, and the only real solution is pee pads, of which I own a limited number and which must be watched regularly. He will mark a fresh box, but after that he returns to the sofa or worse, but bed if he's upset about something. It is A Lot).
I have contacted the nice man the city paid to install the washer and dryer. He actually got back to me. On a Saturday evening no less!!!
There is a chance of his stopping by to look at it tomorrow.
Which brings us to money. I did pay the car tax at the beginning of the month, but the lap top emergency ate most of the housing tax money, which is now a Next Month problem, and i shall likely have to not pay most of March's bills to cover it. Sigh.
But now there is plumbing. I will at minimum need to pay the nice man for coming to look at the washing machine's plumbing situation. If it is a leak in the wall or an upper apartment, the HOA will pay for repairs. If not, we will need to pay it. Either way, we owe the contractor gentleman for his time in coming.
I am very much hoping it will be a small fix where he just tightens something an not something catastrophic. We've been having to do laundry 1-4 times a day for a couple of months and something shaking loos under that hard usage makes sense. Also, I think the leak would be bigger and faster if it were something big.
Let us hope.
Squirrel's bills have gone up drastically since September and they are missing work again for the flu. Between us I have the tail end I'd saved toward housing tax and the bit squirrel has that's not earmarked for bills. I don't know what the man will charge for the look see. It was, I think, $85 a couple of years ago when we had the electrical emergency. I've no idea if it still is that low. especially on a weekend.
I hate asking for money. Especially so soon after the whole housing special assessment nightmare. Especially when my country and big chunks of the world are metaphorically on fire.
I don't have an exact amount as of this writing, but anything that doesn't go toward clothes washer will go towards the housing tax.

* The honest contractor turned up! On a Sunday! (It was a time too early for me to be up, but too late to get back to sleep. This is not a complaint, as honestly, getting the aggregate out this time was a herculean task, but this + being ill is not great for my brain. I apologies for any posting errors, etc.).
So the leak is far worse than thought. It is coming from inside the washing machine. He has turned the water off to stop further leaking, which it has been doing slowly even when not in use. He has advised us to get a new washer, as fixing it via a good repairmen is close to the cost of a new clothes washer. Fuck!
On the upside, it's the cold water leaking, so theoretically, I can wash in hot. Cautiously. I wash exclusively in cold normally, both for environmental reasons and because it's better for my clothes (which are all dark colours). I should do it as little as I can get away with. This means amoung other things leaving the soiled pads on the sofa as long as I can manage it, despite the smell. I've been moving them to do things like eat and do lungs, then putting them back. This led to Tavy sneaking in during lunch under a guise of wanting a pet to successfully soil the back side of a pad. And my arm. Ugh. At least he still deposits solids in the boxes.
On the upside, it's 2025 (A sentence I'd never thought I'd be writing). It is five years between applications for the city to fix things around the apartment exactly. A few months earlier and we'd have to replace it ourselves as with the fridge and stove. If it were next year, I couldn't risk and as as HOA requires us to buy a new water heater every 10 years and I need that to come up the same year as a city fix it application can be filed.
Assuming the funding has not been cut, I can theoretically go down to City Hall for an application Tuesday and get started on it. Which puts me into a queue once I turn it in, as this is not an emergency. I have a list of other things needing doing anyway, though they are smaller. The dishwasher breaks every year and is not in great shape, a bunch off smaller things like a replacement silverware drawer, interior door knobs, etc.. (My brain tends to switch dish and clothes washer. I'm really hoping I haven't done this in my post as I did yesterday. My brain is full of goo).
This is a Process, though, and not guaranteed. Stand by for more news, I guess. Let's hope I'm well enough for paperwork this week.

Squirrel brought home flu from work. We're both vaccinated, of course, but fly mutates and it's clearly a partial coverage situation. squirrel was quite ill last night, but is feeling a bit better. I'm goopy and generally experiencing the ick, so it is possible it's the cold the Millennials have right now rather than influenza. Or both! It's so hard to tell with me. I'm on some very serious anti-nausea meds because that's the only way I can take my other meds and function, so that can mask symptoms, but I think I'd have break through nausea if it were influenza and this is more like a very bad cold on top of all the other things wrong with me both for the last two months and, you know, just generally. I'm at the point with the thing that's been wrong with me since early January where i'm wondering if this is new normal or if i'll start improving soon.
In any case I've got exhaustion on top of the exhaustion I already had, moving is extra difficult and painful, and I feel like crap.
So is this not the perfect time for Something to go terribly wrong with the Plumbing? Sigh.
Something is leaking into the hall from our washer/dryer area. People from the HOA banged on my door and came in without masks. Joke's on them there for refusing masks, for I am the contagious one, and they startled me. We had no visible water this side, so I wasn't aware. The man was able to look behind and there is water where I can't see, apparently.
So now I am barred from laundry, which is a problem because the Emperor Octavian is making a shocking amount of laundry every day. (Tavy is two months at least in on refusing to pee in the box mostly, and the only real solution is pee pads, of which I own a limited number and which must be watched regularly. He will mark a fresh box, but after that he returns to the sofa or worse, but bed if he's upset about something. It is A Lot).
I have contacted the nice man the city paid to install the washer and dryer. He actually got back to me. On a Saturday evening no less!!!
There is a chance of his stopping by to look at it tomorrow.
Which brings us to money. I did pay the car tax at the beginning of the month, but the lap top emergency ate most of the housing tax money, which is now a Next Month problem, and i shall likely have to not pay most of March's bills to cover it. Sigh.
But now there is plumbing. I will at minimum need to pay the nice man for coming to look at the washing machine's plumbing situation. If it is a leak in the wall or an upper apartment, the HOA will pay for repairs. If not, we will need to pay it. Either way, we owe the contractor gentleman for his time in coming.
I am very much hoping it will be a small fix where he just tightens something an not something catastrophic. We've been having to do laundry 1-4 times a day for a couple of months and something shaking loos under that hard usage makes sense. Also, I think the leak would be bigger and faster if it were something big.
Let us hope.
Squirrel's bills have gone up drastically since September and they are missing work again for the flu. Between us I have the tail end I'd saved toward housing tax and the bit squirrel has that's not earmarked for bills. I don't know what the man will charge for the look see. It was, I think, $85 a couple of years ago when we had the electrical emergency. I've no idea if it still is that low. especially on a weekend.
I hate asking for money. Especially so soon after the whole housing special assessment nightmare. Especially when my country and big chunks of the world are metaphorically on fire.
I don't have an exact amount as of this writing, but anything that doesn't go toward clothes washer will go towards the housing tax.

* The honest contractor turned up! On a Sunday! (It was a time too early for me to be up, but too late to get back to sleep. This is not a complaint, as honestly, getting the aggregate out this time was a herculean task, but this + being ill is not great for my brain. I apologies for any posting errors, etc.).
So the leak is far worse than thought. It is coming from inside the washing machine. He has turned the water off to stop further leaking, which it has been doing slowly even when not in use. He has advised us to get a new washer, as fixing it via a good repairmen is close to the cost of a new clothes washer. Fuck!
On the upside, it's the cold water leaking, so theoretically, I can wash in hot. Cautiously. I wash exclusively in cold normally, both for environmental reasons and because it's better for my clothes (which are all dark colours). I should do it as little as I can get away with. This means amoung other things leaving the soiled pads on the sofa as long as I can manage it, despite the smell. I've been moving them to do things like eat and do lungs, then putting them back. This led to Tavy sneaking in during lunch under a guise of wanting a pet to successfully soil the back side of a pad. And my arm. Ugh. At least he still deposits solids in the boxes.
On the upside, it's 2025 (A sentence I'd never thought I'd be writing). It is five years between applications for the city to fix things around the apartment exactly. A few months earlier and we'd have to replace it ourselves as with the fridge and stove. If it were next year, I couldn't risk and as as HOA requires us to buy a new water heater every 10 years and I need that to come up the same year as a city fix it application can be filed.
Assuming the funding has not been cut, I can theoretically go down to City Hall for an application Tuesday and get started on it. Which puts me into a queue once I turn it in, as this is not an emergency. I have a list of other things needing doing anyway, though they are smaller. The dishwasher breaks every year and is not in great shape, a bunch off smaller things like a replacement silverware drawer, interior door knobs, etc.. (My brain tends to switch dish and clothes washer. I'm really hoping I haven't done this in my post as I did yesterday. My brain is full of goo).
