* Primaries are ongoing:
Important! Remember to vote in all primaries, not just presidential!!!

NOTE: There is a call for people to vote "uncommitted" in the Democratic primary as a protest against Biden's Israel policy. The time to pressure Biden with your vote is now, not in November. The pressure from all the different types of protests do seem to be working, if far slower than we'd like.

NOTE 2: There is a similar protest against Trump where people vote for a candidate who isn't running. Check your state to see who people are promoting.

NOTE 3: Important non-Presidential Primaries are also ongoing! Vote the whole ballot!

Indiana: 5/7/24 (Governer, Senate, House Primaries as well! Important!!!)

Maryland, Nebraska, West Virginia: 5/14/24 (Senate and House Primaries as well! Important!!!)

Georgia, Kentucky, Oregon, Idaho: 5/21/24 (House Primaries as well! Important!!!)

Idaho (Democrat): 5/23/24

Texas (Run Off Election): 5/28/24

Know your state's schedule and where to vote. Make sure you and your friends are registered. If you are voting in person, plan how to get there.

If you live in an open primary state consider voting strategically. Otherwise, vote your heart in the primary. Remember how all those votes for Sanders and Warren pushed Biden and the party platform further left?

Remember to vote in all the races, not just the top of the ticket even if it's in a separate primary (as it is in my state). Who runs congress, your state, and your local government really matters. In some states this is a separate primary. Check the rules for your state.

Never, ever sleep on a chance to vote.

It is always better to vote for someone who will listen to us than to let someone who is actively trying to kill us.

* 4/28/24: A massive bureaucracy packet arrived Wednesday afternoon. Sigh. It is exhausting and on top of everything handwriting with my dominant hand is difficult and unpleasant. There is nothing for it. i need the packet finished and out so I can focus on the other bureaucracy that arrived Tuesday. and Physio. And Everything else. It's time sensitive anyway.

Thursday I was still recovering from physio and I had to stay up for the cleaner. (Two times in a row! Things are clean!). Friday I spent a couple hours doing phone bureaucracy, mostly on hold. It'd be faster if Social security voice bot believed in my weird foreign name. Sigh.

Saturday was the Great Sorting. Sunday should be Actual Paperwork. I need Squirrel to print a thing out for me too which is always a drama and requires carrying the printer around.

And then there's the waiting for Things to Arrive in the Mail and the field trip to turn things in which involves highway driving, which I can hopefully manage at that point. *fingers crossed*

My arm still emphatically does not want to go up. I have devised an extra low impact stretch for myself where I rest it on the desk podium where Klaus laptop used to set before the Emperor executed Aidan lap top. It seems small and stupid, but is clearly a lot less dangerous than the official upward arm stretch. I do it in small batches when reading longer things on the internet. I wish I could do it Instead of, but I know better.

Goth Millennial has been very busy in the garden, which is needful. They are moving soon and have decided that they won't need metal outdoor shelving they had been using indoors at their place. They are therefore constructing more plant shelving on the patio. Livia is pretty sure it is actually the zombie hoard coming to get her. The garden is going pretty well despite the weird chill that has persisted most of April despite the weird late March heat wave. Climate change is do weird shit to our weather patterns.

* 5/3/24:
Monday was fire inspection. This involves about an hour of teeth rattling sirens at random interval and a Stranger in Boots invading the cat asylum. As a result, the cats have been incredibly stressed out all week, though things were finally settling down as of Thursday.

Squirrel has been having an ongoing medical issue that got acute enough that on Tuesday they agreed to fit him in extremely early Wednesday morning. I was able to cancel my medical transport for arm torture, and took him. While he was in there I cashed a bunch of the May OTC at the pharmacy and took my bureaucracy packet in to the office where it goes. The timing was excellent. I was a few blocks away when they released squirrel and there was just time enough to take him to his referral for more testing and then drop him home before my appointment. (Everyone's being reasonable about the situation including his employer. I feel a lot better knowing they are checking properly to rule out more serious things.)

Arm torture is arm torture. The new PT is really nice and a delight. We are at the lots and lots of stupid little exercise phase still. (The exercises are correct and there is already noticeable improvement, but they are also emotionally unsatisfying. It is hard to explain. This is probably an ex-athlete psychology problem. In any case, I am being good and not pushing dangerously hard. I dropped stuff my body was not up to Monday evening like I'm supposed to. I am doing everything I reasonably can, which is all of it most days. I am working the program). He added two extra ones to help my arm with the doesn't want to go up issue.

* Tuesday the Imperial couple insisted stay in bed with them until very late, which made sense to me given the tired and the headache. I ended up trapped under Tavy for two whole episodes of Versailles at lung time too. I did eventually get free to eat and do a few necessary things.

I was gone from the cat asylum about seven minutes to take books to the time traveling drop. I'm not sure the Imperial couple knew I was gone. I slipped out the back and propped it shut in hopes they wouldn't notice and escape, because it's much faster to get back in that way and my headache is massive. All three cats were in their rooms when I left. when I returned, There was Livia's head peering through my bedroom window, perfectly centered and framed like a decoration by coloured lights. She was so beautiful. Also Alarmed. she looked like she'd seen a ghost. It dawned on me that while she spends a lot of time on her hind legs peering out that window, it's always been with me inside (or presumably gone entirely off somewhere). She has stood in the doorway and watched me container garden. She has never seen me return from anywhere while looking out a window at me doing it. If she hadn't known I'd left, it might have been as if I suddenly teleported from the livingroom to the Wrong Side of the Window!

* Versailles has been a terrible mess for the most part, but damned if the last few minutes didn't give me the one still possible thing I wanted most.

* Along with Hiddleston's keyboard going, at some point last week my DvD player stopped loading. Usually this happens when it gets jostled. There's a piece that tends to pop out, so I just open it up and slip it back in. I had not time and energy for that in the midst of the combined crises, but the current bedroom TV is one of those combined DvD/VCR thingies. I am wary of these because I don't like putting library discs into a machine I can't open up if the disc gets stuck. Also, I've never figured out how to get it to switch functions with the remote and have to go there and manually switch it on the built in controls when I turn it on. Plus, the TV hasn't subtitles and i really do manage better with subtitles to fall back on. Anyway, when I opened up the DvD player no obvious loose parts. I closed it up and am taking it to fix it next month. I did disentangle the crappy back up DvD player from the living room wire tangle and it also being Sony, takes the same remote as main Dvd player. It has a tendency to loose picture at the least vibration and an annoying hum in the audio but I can turn it on from the prone position when I'm ready to start the slow processes of gradually acclimating my lungs from recline to upright with a series of pillow props without distressing the Empress Livia by flopping next to her at the foot of the bed. I'm going to leave it as a stop gap until I find out if the good DvD player can be saved.

* Star Trek, The Animated Series:

- 1.12: The Time Trap. In a Bermuda triangle area of space that looks like a monochrome fireworks display, they tangle with the Klingons. The lead Klingon attacks first then disappears, neither through destruction or cloak. The Klingons blame the Enterprise, because of course. They fly into the anomaly where the Klingon ship disappears while the Klingons pursue, firing. They get dizzy, uncoordinated and disoriented. They are in a graveyard of ships. Klingons fire first again; nothing happens; both captains get beamed to the equivalent of the Sargasso Sea UN. If anyone on either ship break the peace, then the ship is immobilized for a century as punishment. Time passes super slow in the time trap. They only have four days of power. They need to work together to get out. I like the bit where Spock pretends to have an emotion so he can use touch telepathy on the Klingon, though it seemed odd he didn't tell Kirk in advance and I don't know why Kirk didn't immediately get what he's doing like I did. Anyway, the Klingons try to sabotage the enterprise to blow up as soon as they escape. One of them breaks the peace; Kirk pleads for them not to be frozen; A UN psychic warns the enterprise about the bomb.

* Re: Legalization. I am one of the few adults I know who has never used pot. (It just never interested me, plus, my lungs have never been able to handle smoke, and edibles were rare when I was young. I live in Washington and there are a ton of shops in my town. I thought it over and I'm still not interested. It's not a judgement against my friends who use it. In fact, I've been pro-legalization, pro-expunging pot convictions from people's records, pro- immediate release and return of civil liberties for pot convictions since my teens. Look, I worked late night drive thru at a Burger King through most of my teens. Trust me, it was damned obvious that people were going to use and I'd take the car full of people high on pot over the car full of often violent drunks any day. I have seen what long term daily pot use does, and I'd recommend against it, but it's simply nowhere near as damaging at it's worst than alcoholism is. I am for regulation, taxation, laws against driving high, and serious oversight for grows as there are a lot of reports of serious exploitation of workers coming out of California particularly. I am for harm reduction and a properly regulated industry is so much safer than black market for a host of reasons i am too tired to list.

Most importantly, enforcement of prohibition has been incredibly racist and used to enslave people in prisons and to deny civil rights and to steal the future of people of colour and the poor for stupid little offenses that my white friends growing up got away with constantly. Pot Prohibition has been about cheap prison labor and disenfranchisement of a large portion of the population. It's not just or logical or good for our country. The sooner we end it the better, and the sooner we let people get on with their lives and return their rights and freedom the better.

* I just want to assure people that I haven't given up on Archaeology/history updates or doing Black Sails retrospective. It's just that the firehouse of horror and urgent RL realities keep eating all the time and spoons. I am ridiculously behind on library books, TV, long form reporting. The storage closet reorg is still eating my livingroom. I need to find the light pieces cats scattered. I am making good progress on the art project, but it's all a time sink. So many things need mending and I can't just zip through a mending stack in an hour or less the way I did before granmother's sewing machine got stolen in a move. These days I have to hand sew with AS riddled hands that struggle to thread needles.

I haven't forgotten, I'm just tired and I need twice the hours in a day than I reasonably have.

* Again, most of my legal knowledge outside of some small super specific areas is in Western European Medieval Law. Is retroactive Executive privilege that blanket nullifies all executive branch interviews including things during the election and transition even a Thing? Because that doesn't sound legal to me on the face of it. Some of those people have already been sentenced and how can executive privilege apply to things before 45 was sworn in? Can someone with access to law books and resources check, because I honestly didn't think this was how executive privilege works. Up to now, I've only seen it used in the moment to cover specific lines of questioning, not months later to nullify testimony.

* Wednesday was forage, what with Monday being MLK Day. The forage hours are different Wednesdays, which is lucky as I'm still not particularly functional and the extra time Helped. Still, it was November type weather with high Arctic wind off the Bay driving the torrential rain nearly sideways. The line was long and there was no parking even though I went late enough to hit the usual lull and miss after work rush, so rather than stand out in torrential sideways rain and high wind, I did my library loop first in hopes the extra ten or so minute would improve matters.

The trip was longer than expected as there was a Thing with my reserves and the ILL Archon flagged me down on the way out as she had a book just in for me and wanted to talk about some stuff. It seems this incredibly skilled and hard working Super star of finding obscure texts and DvDs was retiring after more than twenty years running the ILL department. As a result they were changing some policies for ILLs :( because they expect to be swamped with her apprentices trying to keep up with the work of a woman with decades of extra knowledge and contacts. She's going to be irreplaceable and it's clear the library knows it. You don't automatically know things like where the only copy of Saint Lucifer one can ILL borrow in the continental United states is; that sort of thing takes years to pick up.

We were not friends. I know her face from the break room when I worked there and the occasional ILL related conversation sine. I have spoken to her fairly often on the phone. She goes above and beyond and I am always careful to say nice things because I know I often make bizarre and difficult requests and I order a ridiculous number of things from her. People who do this sort of work well and without complaint are a kind of hero of civilization in my opinion, labouring in obscurity and seldom thanked, so I ALWAYS thank her. I did so one last time.

She asked me a question I have suspected she had wanted to ask for most of a decade: Are you doing some sort of big research project? This is in a sense true, though no book will ever come of it, so I owned it, though I explained I also had strange and varied taste in entertainment. I was thinking of that year I approximately doubled the size of our Queer Cinema selection as they bought nearly all of the one I ordered, my prediction for often mostly forgotten reconstructed silent films, the recent super specific ballet performance requests that swelled our collection, the peculiar less mainstream horror films, that time I ordered 4 or so White Trash Zombie books in a row, my tendency to ask them to pre-order all the Seanan McGuire/Mira grants, etc., etc.. (Every ILL one sends in gets evaluated to see I they want it in the collection and if they buy it, they send it to you first. I actually have a pretty good purchase rate on my non-academic orders. I am proud of this. I love when I rest something and a line appears behind me while it's on order, sowing I've tapped into a pent up demand for something the library might not have realized it needed until I ordered it).

We were not friends, but I will miss her terribly, and I will have to be circumspect in my ordering of peculiarities.

The rain paused while I was inside, and I got parking at forage a reasonable gimping distance away, though not in front. The line was still out past the rain awning and snails's paced, so it was way more standing than was good for me, but the when the rain started again it was gentler and the wind not so high. The new computer system was up and running and the hold up had to do with data entering people who hadn't come the last two weeks, so after check in,things were quick and smooth, it was the line to get in that completely thrashed me. The winds were up again by the time I got home, so unloading was an asshole and it was rather a struggle to gimp from far parking. The winds were howling so loud earlier it was like sirens in the hall when I went for mail, but it is calmer now.

* I have this thing where when I come home, I always go and greet the cat. Cats generally like this. It is reassuring, it reinforces group membership, the Hu-Mon often ios covered in interesting smells as well as the familiar reassuring ones. Cats like a little pettin and crooning when Big Friend returns. If one of the cats is not there, as a sort of joke I generally ask the cat that is things like, "Where is your learned colleague," "Where is your colleague from the other side of the aisle" etc.. Today, I asked Tavy where his "Unindicted Co-conspirator " was. Look, I take my smiles here I can find them.

My immune system is generally terrible at fighting off disease, being mostly concerned with destroying all that pesky cartilage and assorted other bots of me it has determined are secretly alien. I am still tired, dizzy, occasionally achey, and my lungs are thicker than I like, but it's manageable. Today is meant to be cleaning and pie making. I am working in small bits with long rests in between.

* Contrary to the usual way of things, my immune system seems to be making an attempt on the secondary infection, so rather than the expected downward spiral, there are small but noticeable signs of improvement. As a result I opted not to call the clinic and instead give it a few days to see what happens. I am still exhausted, coughing, and experiencing a gruesome headache, but if I spend 12-14 hours in bed every 24 and don't do something stupid, like bending over, it's manageable. Hence the weird and sporadic posting.

I did go and get a third of a tank of gas, forage, library, and litter/kibble/tp. The problem is, of course, I'm pretty sure I'll pass out if I actually try to change the litters between the bending over and the dust. The ones I'm responsible for need a full change desperately. The office, bathroom, and kitchen need cleaning. Livia broke a fan over the weekend and it's in the way, but the idea of trying to sort it out exhausts me. Fix it is tomorrow and I need to make pies Wednesday. I feel like I'm drowning. I do think there is enough money for the bill that comes due tomorrow, though likely not the one for the fifteenth, as I used the money for it to pay the one I didn't pay last month. Sigh. And I still need to do an oil auction to try to catch up bills, especially as property tax is coming up. Sigh. At least I took like twenty things back to the library in the last week, half of them ILL.

I have hopes that this time I'll actually get to finish the very gay poison scandal book before something else gets more urgent, even if right now I'm completely hypnotized by the charmingly written, utterly devastating AIDS memoir that captures the thing I try and fail to explain to Millennial when they ask me what it was like living through it.

* I actually made progress with the hooks today, having discovered some of the hooks are sharper, which means the hammer is way more effective with them. Once I get the sharp hook to screw in, i unscrew and replace it with one that better fits the purpose. The mantel is done, though I may want to stick a few more in just in case.

I've started training Livia with the dental treats left over from Mache and Hector. I still have them as they are the hard treats that don't go bad quickly if one keeps them in a sealed container and because both LM and Tavy would rather starve than eat them. Livia reacts as if they were crack. The training is going slowly as she gets frustrated and gives up fairly quickly, but I got her to do a half trick once and a full trick once, so it's progress even if this is slow compared to all but one of the cats I've worked with.

I actually did get proper sleep, though the fever dreams were the usual mix of surreal and impressively creepy. Seriously, one would have made a first rate horror short, and one might have made a good indie game. Ah well. I'm settling in for the inevitable secondary infection, and suspect I'll be ready to talk the clinic into an emergency appointment and an antibiotic on Monday. For those new to the health saga, this is nothing to get worked up over. It becomes serious if I start suffocating in my sleep or it's antibiotic resistant. I did nearly pass out twice coughing, but so far this is typical January health wise.

* I want to thank the folks who kicked in towards kibble etc.. I'll know where I am financially Mondayish, but I have hopes of doing a proper kibble/litter/tp/gas run after Monday forage, or later in the week if I'm not up to it then. I definitely have enough for the weekend of everything except possibly litter. (I for sure have enough for one box, but not the others.

* Progress continues with the Beasties. Tavy is mostly letting her sleep with him on top of me as long as I am also asleep, but continues to object to her attempts to curl up with him on me while I am reading or the like. I keep kicking him off for assholery in a no conflict zone, but this process tends to scare her off too. Today she was clever and after two attempts at cuddle naps, she cleverly curled up on the other side of the barrier pillow within pettin reach and had a good love and a nap. I keep hoping she'll figure out Hector's old trick of curling up on my pillow while it's still cool enough.

Today she stopped playing to let Squirrel bend down and pet her even though humans are huge and scary when they walk. her Host human said she like shoulder cuddles, but no sign of it yet, though she does nap on my desk and has seen Tavy signal for them and get them. I still have hope.

We're just generally working on no conflict zone training, which is working out better on my desk than the bed so far though not perfectly. Mostly the issue is 1. Tavy not wanting to share me in particular situations. 2. Tavy responding to her signals that she's done being groomed now by intensifying rather than backing off, which I am also working on gently but firmly. To be clear, she really does like him grooming her, and arrives already purring like a motor cycle engine rolling carefully into grooming position. It's just him not knowing when to stop.

As I typed this in the late afternoon, they were hanging out on the living room window sill peacefully watching the birds etc..

* I've been really annoyed with myself the last few years for how many fewer books I read than I used to. I love reading, I love learning things, and was honestly starting to low key worry about mental deterioration. A couple of months ago, a friend referenced how many articles I read a day and I was like, "Oooohhhhh! I'm likely reading a similar page count, it's just instead of reading a book or two a day, I'm reading 2/3-3/4 of it in a form where I can't see the progress. I did, in fact also read approximately 2 1/2 feet of ILL books in the last two months, plus various non-ILL library books, library graphic novels, and the like. I am not in fact suddenly stupid, although I seem to have undergone another of those shifts in the way one's brain stores and processes data again, sort of like happens in one's mid-twenties, and that other one I noticed last time I was taking university courses for teach certificate renewal and one of the early twenty something's turned to me after the Prof used one of my exam answers as an example for the class in a YA for teachers class and asked, "How did you know all that and put it together that way?" and I said, "Oh, I cheated; I'm carrying an extra decade of knowledge around in my head." Which got me noticing and I realized I was chunking data way more efficiently with geometrically more cross connections than I had in my twenties. I am not convinced this more recent change in the way my brain organizes information is in any way an improvement. It's more like that thing when I was working on my first Master's degree in my twenties and I noticed my brain was full and I was losing information like what I'm meant to be doing Wednesday to make room for long lists of ale brewers and malefactors of the Marsh in early 14th century court rolls. Unfortunately I am losing a bunch of useful historical information i very much wanted to keep in favour of things like election details for four or five key countries in Africa, where and what epidemics and outbreaks are going on, what wars, the pipeline of horror out on Moscow and DC, a like a hundred terrible things I track in Ukraine, Yemen, Syria, the Philippines, Australian detention camps, etc.,etc.. Hence me flipping out and going to town on high medieval social, economic, and political history refreshers because forgetting shit I used to know like my own name pisses me off.

So I'm feeling a lot less stupid, even if this is a bit of aging I'm not liking.

Why am I talking about this? Because there's been all this stuff in the news about how much TV 45 watches. People are acting as if it's the number that is the problem. I watch lot of TV. I spend several hours in bed each day trying to do things like getting all my body parts to cooperate (which works better if I go slow), doing meds, getting dressed, petting and playing with cats, plus the wind down process involving putting things away, last meds, playing with and/or petting cats, re-configuring the bed so the prop pillows hold everything in place to minimize pain and damage before settling in to read and sleep. Like, between bed time and decanting from bed I watched the whole first disc of Stranger Things which Netflix finally released and came from the library yesterday, so that's like 4ish hours of TV right there, plus a whole episode of superstition during food and lungs, plus hours of assorted news programs that help me figure out what key words to be searching on top of the obvious ones, plus the commentary and assorted fun stuff I often have on in the background, but I also read three chapters of 15th century land disputes and the early battles of the Wars of the Roses plus associated English politics before I got up. I will likely read another chapter of that or another two of the painfully lyrical, charmingly literary, and utterly devastating AIDS memoir I am reading. If I take a bath that's a chunck of a graphic novel, plus the news fire hose from which I condense the best into links for y'all. I'm guessing I'm in the 8-12 hour range, which makes me WORSE than 45 on paper, and yet I'm damned sure I've a far greater grasp of what's going on in the world than he does despite me not having a daily intelligence briefing and access to the experts at the State Department, CIA, etc..

I think quality matters, which is not to say that I don't read and watch a lot of fun stuff. It's just my diet of information is reasonably varied, I read as well as watch, and I think as well as consume. I'm making analogies between the way Detroit is changing with certain ancient and medieval cities that experienced traumatic population contraction and resulting chaos and how they ultimately adapted. I'm taking in modern economic policy news and plugging it into my knowledge of micro and macro economics and several thousand years of historical knowledge about how economies and economic policies tend to effect each other. I'm taking current Jeff Session news and matching it up with a rich racial, political, and economic context from the whole of colonial and US history and how shit tends to go and why and what it actually means for human type people having to live with those decisions. I don't think any of that is true of 45. I don't think anything even vaguely like that goes on inside his head. I'm not convinced he's capable of imagination, empathy, or long term strategic thinking.

Every time this sad little word pictures of how 45 spends his days turn up in the news, a picture of President Obama working pops into my head. I think of him, jacket off and sleeves rolled up working hard at his desk, reading dispatches and briefs and legislation and treaties. I think of him in meetings paying attention and asking astute questions. I think of a man with the imagination and intellectual curiosity to ask what trans folk really needed in this country and get actual answers from transfolk that led to him improving our lives in 150+ small, unglamorous, utterly crucial ways that hardly anyone noticed because things like stopping a W era policy of having Homeland security automatically out trans job seekers to potential employers on;y matter to the transfolk who'd been denied jobs because they'd been outed and then weren't next time they applied somewhere. I picture him and Michelle propped up in bed at night with books and papers scattered everywhere, trying their damnedest to work out on a practical level what is best for the country and the world.

Look, I didn't always agree with President Obama, but I could look at any given decision he made and follow the basic decision making process and rationale based on publicly available knowledge, and with the understanding there are like a million things I don't know due to not having a massive staff of experts and access to State department and intelligence agency resources, etc.. I could have faith that he really thought shit through before deciding. I could see where he was trying to make the best of a no win. I quickly got a feel for his style of risk taking and was comfortable with it, even when I didn't agree. I knew that there was a first rate mind who had traveled to other countries and practiced constitutional law bringing all resources to bear on massive problems, and there was comfort in that.

For the last year I've watched BBC anchors and exports trying ever more frantically to find and assign some sort of thought or strategy to 45's actions and words while trying to disguise what I strongly suspect is rising panic. I DON'T THINK THERE IS ANY TO FIND, beyond self interest, tantrums, and a hunger to cause as much chaos as possible to get ratings. That's it. That's all there is. No deep thought or strategy, no three dimensional chess; just random impulses, greed, a toddler screaming "Look at me" while he loses at tic tac toe because he can't think even one move ahead.

* Me watching Superstition: That is the best sweater! You aren't going to do experiments in that sweater are you? Aiyeeeee! Stand back! You'll get blood on the best sweater ever! Is the sweater okay? I can't see! Shit, there's blood on her face! They got the sweater, didn't they. Damn.

Really though? This show is ridiculously good. I think I finally convinced Squirrel to try it. *fingers crossed* It is definitely the best new show this fall season and I'm really worried not enough people are watching it. (And Exorcist and Ghost Wars). Where are all the people who loved first season Sleepy Hollow and the first five seasons of Supernatural? Why aren't they mobbing social media with fic and art and ships and speculation? I really, really don't want this thing cancelled because the people who would like it never heard of it.

I know tax bills aren't as obviously threatening as the ACA repeal, but this is very dangerous in it's own way. It is a series of tax bills like this that have made conditions geometrically worse for working and middle class people since the time of Reagan. Like all Republican tax policy in my life time, this bill is designed to increase wealth inequality and harm people who work for their money rather than inherit it. This is yet another dramatic tax cut for the rich at the expense of everyone else that is expected to damage the economy the way all such tax cuts have done while shrinking tax revenues at a time when they are also planning to dramatically increase military spending so that they have an excuse to cut social services.

Please resist this with the same energy we resisted ACA Repeal.

If you have Republican Senators, or Democrats Joe Manchin, Heidi Heitkamp, and Joe Donnelly call, fax, or protest in person, asking them to stand against the bill with their Democratic colleagues.

The new Conservative government there is responding by taking strong action to remove things like the carbon tax and cutting funding to researchers looking at climate change, presumably in the hopes of worsening the drought and related climate damage. Sounds familiar, doesn't it?

* Republicans, alarmed that the economy is finally starting to recover from the Bush Financial crisis, have taken strong action to cut 240000 jobs out of the US economy and cutting annual economic growth by about .4%, in the hopes of setting back the economy by about a year or so. This has the added benefit of massively increasing human misery and homelessness and punishing the victims of Republican economic policies by stopping unemployment insurance for 1.3 million people and 1.9 more in the next few months. This also has the added benefit of disproportionally harming locally owned small businesses. Rand Paul wants to remind you that this is for the good of the unemployed people, because he has the fantasy that it is easier for people to find work if they are homeless and their are fewer jobs available for them to get. *side eye*

I think it's time to ask why Republicans hate the United States so much that they want to do harm to the Country on this scale on purpose.

* Today was bureaucracy, which went faster than expected. (I still need to somehow find time for a document hunt this weekend). I then took Djinni to Costco, where I got a membership for the first time in a decade. (It stopped making sense as there were cheap groceries closer, I was single, and its physically exhausting for me. The store that was closer went out of business and I needed to buy a cheap TV). As you get two memberships for the sign up fee, I gave Djinni the other membership and we went shopping. He was able to get things and load them onto the cart for me and load up the car at the end. It was still about all the energy and pain resistance I had, but the lan is that once a month or so I can take them there and they can do my lifting and I can provide the wheels for them to get their gear home.
