* Impossible Foods: I have been longing endlessly for Cannoli, but the last place I knew of around here that made good ones closed several years ago. I long for Sfogliatelle, which I always do this time of year, though I ate them last in 1987 or 1988. The bakery that sold them closed when I was away at college and I've never seen them for sale anywhere since. I lust after Ukrainian layered homey cake, eaten only once over a decade ago.

I want comfort foods, like latke, which I can make, but I can't safely eat any more. I want Thai green curry soup from that one place that I like but can't afford. I want my Grandmother's almond cookies and my Mother's sritz cookies, and that weird type of cake with the thin chocolate glaze the women of my family used to make this time of year, but I have not name for and so can't even look up a recipe.

Impossible foods. Sigh.

* This time of year is so expensive. I'm already about $80.00 down on bills with no money for gas. I'll be out after I loop the Monday forage. I really need bifocals, and had hopes the new insurance would put them in reach, but not the way I keep falling further and further behind, I don't think I can. Sigh.

I haven't posted the Solstice readings because doing it properly takes it out of me and I just haven't been up to it. I owe one anyway, and I keep waiting for things to click. I've been making progress on cataloging, but not fast enough.
