* TW: Rape Culture. Remember that man who got a slap on the wrist and no jail time for raping a young teen? The Judge decided the sentence of no jail time and some probation was too harsh, so lightened it.

* Talking About an Existing Problem Does Not Create It.

Talking about it is the first step to fixing it though.

Refusing to talk about it or condemning people for talking about it is the opposite of helping.

* Today, Greenwick and I moved enough stuff across to constitute clutter. It is especially bad as the furniture over there constitutes 2 small bookshelves, an ottoman, and some folding chairs. In other words, I can put things in drawers, cabinets, and closets, but some key items are on the floor, waiting for furniture to put them on. Other things need to be unpacked and put away properly, but are clustered against walls or on counters for now, waiting for time and energy. The last original stereo component J left behind when we broke up in the mid-90's died in transit. It's the receiver, so nothing can be done until I find another one. Of course. I was wanting music while we unpack, see. I wrote down the model number as amazon often has old components gently used for cheap, but Amazon doesn't even list this model, let alone have it. After all, I have no idea how long J had it before me. I'm guessing the piece was something like 20 years in use. So It took most of an hour to find what looks like the right sort of stereo receiver from a different brand, but based on the extreme audiophile geekiness on the various review pages, I have hopes that this will be an acceptable substitute and quite possibly an upgrade. Fuck, that's $75.00 for more things it turned out we needed at Ace and about $200.00 for the new stereo component, all taken out of the surgery fund. This keeps getting more expensive in a nickle and dime, wearing me down sort of way.

The living room looks so much larger with three bookshelves and all but a couple stacks of gaming books gone. I want my bed over there, be cause I can tell I'm close to the point where I'll want the cats, fish, and I out of here and over there. I need to move more kitchen first, but not having the bed makes it hard to figure out what goes where.

* I am so lucky I have a Doctor's appointment today, as the lung situation has been going rapidly down hill all night. Unfortunately, what I really want to do is sleep, but I'd just have to be up in two hours.

* RP: Finding Timbuktu:

Tiger exchanged tokens with the kin women, and they Moon Bridged to a tiny Caern in "Egypt" which in this case means the bit of Ancient Egypt that is now Sudan. The locals were a skeleton crew of Caern officers and guards. Various people tried to get various information out of them for quest purposes. They knew nothing of a "secret libraries," just the great ones in places like Timbuktu and Ethiopia, or the burned one in Alexandria. Various of their suggestions pointed the group to Ethiopia and Timbuktu just generally and Timbuktu sounded promising for more searches, so they decided to stop there. The locals warned that the airts get weird over the desert and suggested a caravan as a better option. They gave directions to a likely place to find a caravan. Fumiko got a river maiden to take service for up to a year and a day in a water jug, just in case. Gwallog got very excited about the Salt trade. As they crossed the desert, Fumiko discovered the second in command in the caravan was a fennoc fox shifter. They made friends, and this explained the ease of crossing. Some of them had odd dreams at a caravanserai that specialized in fleecing travelers a few days away from their destination.

Timbuktu was impressive and beautiful. The Fennoc gave Fumiko a bunch of useful contacts she could use for the group's benefit. She went to the library to try to find the "secret library" of her quest. The research took most of the week. Gwallog settled them in a fennoc recommended inn, then went hunting pretty blue desert ware and salt trade contacts. Tiger went looking for Bubasti and found them. They found him interesting and exotic, and he is invited to a get together next full moon he is free. They advised against a meet with the lions, who they said were worse even than wolves, who they also hated. They would set up a meet if they had to, but would not take responsibility for resulting deaths. They were more willing to setup a meet with hyenas, and suggested they bring gifts. The Hyenas assumed Fumiko was the leader. They agreed to take them to the place were the "Great Evil" slept until he wolves awakened it. They could send word when they were ready to go. Blake found some sphinxes on the roof of the penumbral library. He answered riddles, so instead of eating him, they gave him a dung beetle statue, advice to bring combs and carcases, and directions for the first leg of his journey to "The Mother of Lions."

They decided to do Fumiko's thing first, since it was apt to be shorter, but when they crossed over, she was missing....

And now I have a bunch of homework for next week, a bunch of things I need to brush up on history wise as I've lost a lot of place names since I last studied Medieval North Africa, and need to run a solo adventure for Fumiko. Luckily, Djinni is going to do a short Dinosaur campaign during the worst of the move, so I'll have a little extra time to try to pull things together. I'm fine for next week and the week after the Dinosaur campaign, but I like to have things at my finger tips, so I can drop clues.
