* They have charged the train driver in the Spanish crash with 79 counts of homicide as he was talking on the phone when speeding into that curb.

* At least 38 are dead in a terrible bus and car crash in Italy, and ten are injured. The bus fell off a bridge and something like 8 other vehicles were hit.

* It sounds like 48 dead in the attacks on Shia neighborhoods in Iran.

* Today when I was getting dressed to meet the realtor, I looked down at myself. My Aragorn pendant was hanging down exactly the way I imagined it looking before I started transition as I buttoned up the last good silk shirt left over from college. For one brief and brilliant moment, all was well with the world.

* I got crap for sleep because of the coughing. I'm pretty sure there is a pathogen under all the allergy symptoms from the changes in the cough and the speed of my deterioration over the last couple days. It's clear it's not all pathogen though, as I perk up significantly when I'm in filtered air conditioned air. (Part of why I am desperate to move is I can have an air conditioner in the new place. It's a huge help for my lungs if I can sharply limit exposure to outside air).

In any case, I dragged myself out to meet the Realtor on time. We did up the contracts for our offer. There are other people interested it sounds like. I ended up doing escalation paperwork up to the amount I expected to have to pay for the thing before they lowered the asking price last night. It works sort of like ebay. You put in the bid, plus a maximum bid and if other people bid it goes up. If they don't, you get the lower price. *fingers crossed* The lower price makes a huge difference and would be very helpful. As I am paying cash up front and am willing to go that high, odds are not bad for me actually getting the thing. By the time I inched home through the inevitable traffic jam on the Guide and dropped of my library books, all I wanted was to take off my grown up clothes and lie down. Alas, I had some phone calls and bureaucracy to sort out. The most important phone call was to the East Coast, so I did that first. When I picked up the phone to call, there was already a message from the realtor calling me back as the Bank wanted documentation proving I had the money ASAP. I called the East Coast anyway, then drove back. This is a good sign, as it means the bank is eager to sell.

I so want this to be over. We expect to hear before Friday.

Hey Gwydd! I have a new computer and hope to be back here more often. I'm glad to hear you are getting the housing thing sorted. I've been having a dreadful time with lung issues as well. My asthma and COPD are acting up. I'm hoping we get some rain soon.

Good luck on the housing thing. And we had some serious rain ( it was great, the worst pouring thunderstorm I've ever seen in this desert) recently, washing away all the dust and grime and 'dead smog air'. Everything was sooo fresh and growing bigger and greener right before my eyes after that storm.

We've been expecting rain a couple days now. The overcast is cooling things to bearable, but rain would e better.
