Wait, so as far as voting rights go, Republicans believe strongly that corporations should have the vote, but people of color shouldn't.

* Fish Update: My beloved Hatshepsut died. Ze's my bedroom pleco, big, strong beautiful. Ze simply stopped eating about two weeks ago and all attempts to entice Zhir failed. It was a heartbreaking process to watch. Tonight I fed her to the garden. The plants in that tank started failing just before zhir decline and I'm wondering if the wafers and tank algae just weren't enough. Zhir tank mates look healthy. They hid during the removal. This is not surprising as I had to move all the tank decorations to get zhir out. When I went back to turn out the light after everything was settled, they were chasing each other about in hopes of mating. When there is more money, I think I'll buy them fresh plants and try to start from scratch rather than transplanting from other tanks. I have not seen Cleopatra in weeks and suspect zhirher tank escape fatally weakened her. Ze was small enough to be eaten quickly leaving no body to find. Nefertiti continues healthy and I just watched zhir grab an algae wafer to hide in her cave for nomming.
* I am still recovering from watching Mea Maxima Culpa: Silence, a documentary about the systematic rape of deaf children by a priest and older boys breaking in the next generation of victims. It also deals with the systemic cover up starting in the mid-1800's of rampant sexual abuse of children by the Catholic Church as a matter of policy, Pope John Paul II and Pope Benedict's role in the cover up, and the systematic abuse of children in Dublin and Italy. The Churches argument is that the anal rape of boys doesn't harm them since they heal. Therefore the rape survivors are the real villains here for persecuting these poor rapists. It's the rapists deserve our compassion and the rape survivors who deserve condemnation. After all they wanted to be raped. It's disgusting. I have huge sympathy for folks like the Nuns on the Bus and all other folks fighting within and without with reform. At the same time Benedict and his cronies, many of whom he appointed are voting for the next folk, so I'm betting the next Pope will also be pro-rape and anti-progress generally. I'd love to be wrong, but I don't think I am, hence my not getting too excited about the current pro-rape pope resigning.
