* So Wednesday, we had inspection and the window was literally anytime before noon. My initial plan was to try to nap in my clothes, but city liaison guy wanted to come over and take pictures. The result was that i was fading fst by the time the inspector showed up just before noon. Because of course.
Sleep was no good as the people above us apparently are doing yet more renovations, this time including them ripping out all the old carpets (They were throwing them off the balcony and workmen were carrying them away between 11-noon) and replacing them with who knows, but the result was, exactly when Squirrel and I were trying to crash power tools, hammers, random thumps, drills, etc. right over our heads, terrifying my cats. The hammers were the worst, because I'd drift off during the quiet gaps and then flail awake to three loud bangs, which my sleeping self would take for someone at the door, since I'm the one for the last three decades who was a light enough sleeper to hear delivery persons pounding on various apartment doors i've lived in with assorted people. Three loud bangs is right up there with unexpected person in my room to wake me from a sound slumber and have me on my wobbly pins before my brain has caught up. (I'm fine with cats going in and out. I've had roommates and lovers go in and out over the years and no problem, but if someone my sleeping brain doesn't expect wanders in, no matter how quiet? Up I go. No, it's not trauma, it my sensory wiring). Some of the machinery was right over my head and unbearable loud and the imperial couple couldn't figure out where to hide since it was everywhere: both bedrooms, both bathrooms, kitchen, living room. Except for that one day towards the beginning of our renovation, there was always a quiet room for beasties to hide in from invading monsters making scary sounds. Not Wednesday. They have been understandably clinging since.
By the time I managed to drag myself out of bed to do shreds time and take a good bath it was very late. The bath is super helpful with the pain, but wears be the fuck out, so I needed a rest and the Imperial couple needed reassurance. Then we had a major outage of everything but the electricity. No TV, Internet, phone. Fun! I still needed to feed cats (kibbles), the fish, and myself; take meds; do lungs; set up meds try, take more meds.... I felt crappy from the infection and was still tired and there was no sign of Internet etc. coming back, so I gave up and went back to bed.
Today Tavy went to great lengths to keep me in bed, but I needed to do pharmacy run, and change books and make photocopies at the library, and drop my bureaucracy packet off at the courthouse, where it turned out they were getting a steady drip of elderly and disabled people doing their tax freeze reup. They were very sweet and patient, which is good, because I literally couldn't work out how do do sections of the paperwork. I threw myself on their mercy. Apparently everyone does because no one knows what the fuck three of the questions are asking. Like seriously one line was referring to a line that does not exist on a modern 1040 tax return and two had multiple clauses with double negatives where I could think of more than one thing they might be asking.
Tomorrow is the blood work appointment, which is good because none of the usually tricks are working on the infection. So remember the list of things that could be going on with my body? It turned out it was the sinus infection I've had since late December/early January ramping way the fuck up and helpfully colonizing neighboring bits of me. So my lungs are back in play (wet cough and definitely bacterial), and I'm gearing up for a couple of ear infections which is annoying af. The right one is further along. I am not having much luck heading it off, though I suspect I've slowed it down.
So not coronavirus or at least not yet, which is good, because Squirrel and I re both in the 15% death rate or higher categories. On the upside, I had a chat with squirrel and his work is taking solid preventative measures. Odds are it'll get there anyway, because people have to go home, shop, etc., but they are trying which is honestly all I ask. If 45 had let the CDC handle things instead of over riding them in hopes it'll kill people like me off, I wouldn't be angry. Pandemic roulette is pandemic roulette. There is no safe, but what I want me government to do in an outbreak, epidemic, or pandemic is to take rational steps based on science to halt or at least slow the spread as much as possible and to provide accurate information. I am angry because Republicans decided to do the opposite of that on purpose. I am angry because slower spread is way the fuck better because it cuts down on shortages of equipment and materials necessary to save lives and allows for more pathogen specific training and planning.
But for now I feel like crap and am a day behind on everything before I even started this evening, but I am not dangerously sick, just pain in the ass sick.

* It was a really pleasant surprise to see political ads that were not for Bloomburg or Steyer. They'd flooded the local markets for so long that seeing Bernie instead of that asshole transphobe Bloomberg was an actual shock to my system tonight. I didn't see any Bidens nor any for the usual slate of state candidates and issues that one usually gets this time of year, but wow am am I pleased not to be angry about billionaires completely forcing out everyone and everything that actually matters to people in my state politically every damned ad break.
