* I actually got good sleep today, which I needed, especially as today I went to try to sort out the TV. I got ten dollars out on the way, as the bank still had tellers and I really needed gas. I arrived at the library as they were setting up, first in line. Alas, this did not sav me as people who they didn't finish last time go first. I alternated reading and doing my best charming strangers routine. He worked on my bit in the gaps while he waited for things to set on a mixer he was fixing. It was the same model my Mother had when I was a child. I learned to bake with it. The mixer was healed, and I was glad to see it still in service and still loved by the nice lady who had it, the span of my lifetime away from it's manufacture. My guy did all he could, but the tV specialist had a TV they didn't finish last time, so he didn't have much time left to work on it. Between them, it's a whole list of things we know for sure aren't the problem. I'm to bring it back in November.
There was an indigenous mother and a delightful, clearly mechanical genius child who came. I think the boy was in Second grade, but I could be wrong by a year either way. She was doing a lot of enrichment with him and generally reminded me of my mother in her parenting style. The little dude was going to be doing a special program soon where they got to fix electronics and was really exited to be at the library on fixing stuff night. He got to see what was inside all the things and they let him use the volt meter and everyone wa willing to explain stuff. I showed him my sound circuit board and my visual circuit board and explained the bits he'd missed, and then he went over to look at the larger, more expensive version, which was also open to be fixed so he could compare the innards. So well behaved and just so excited to learn stuff. The future.
Anyway, this ate my whole evening and it was long past dark and chilly enough I wished I brought my coat. I got gas at the cheap place which I very much need to last the month as I shouldn't be spending anything at all on non-bill medical things. (I've saved enough EBT for my apricot straws and something for my Birthday). The trip there takes me past my house along this long road, past a small organic farm and a bunch of houses with lots of vegetation. My end of town has lots of small green spaces, drainage ditches with trees and lush vegetation, streams, and the University campus up the hill. There is a sort of gradual blend into the big parks and the real wilderness of the Mountains beyond. Thus, we have urban deer. I saw the doe up ahead in more than enough time, the road being straight, the speed being relatively low, and her having nearly made it across, I slowed and she stepped delicately up onto the sidewalk and stood staring as I passed.
Of course the parking was gone. I was cold and tired and thirsty and hadn't eaten or lunged. Pills needed sorting. I'd eaten all the ripe tomatoes. Tavy was beside himself, having missed me and also clearly having been bored which made all the necessary things that much more exiting. Poor wee beastie. The annual packet from management has come. I read it and mailed out my stuff. I really should get it together to go to this years meeting, but I haven't managed it even once yet. Sigh.
