* If the Syrian government did not use gas against civilians as they slept in the middle of the night, why aren't they allowing UN inspection? If all that footage from multiple sources was somehow faked, soil tests would prove no attack took place. The refusal sure looks like guilt to me, especially as the Arab League is calling for tests.

* Yosemite is burning.

* The murder of Australian baseball player, Chris Lane, is a terrible, senseless thing. However, I do not see how a group containing one black, one white, and one mixed race person who killed a white person and were arrested when they went to kill a black person is even vaguely the save as George Zimmerman hunting and killing Trayvon Martin. It seems to me that if it were all about race one of the murdered wouldn't be white and the second target wouldn't be "black." Of course FOX "News" is claiming that somehow this is proof that black people are more racist than white people, ignoring both the white perpetrator and the young man they went after second. Looks like bullshit to me. Bonus points: The suspects were arrested immediately at the house where their second intended victim lived. It did not require national protests to force the police to investigate the crime and make an arrest unlike in the Martin case.

So while I can strongly recommend the powerful "Daughter of the Midway, the Mermaid, and the Open, Lonely Sea" by Seanan McGuire, and the charming "Hell's Menagerie," along with maybe a couple of the other better ones, I can only beg people not to purchase this on the grounds that the transmisogyny on display here is stomach churning and the racism, misogyny, and ableism sprinkled through many of the stories is something not to be encouraged with cash.

* Today was the 50th Memorial March on Washington. It was gratifying to see so much focus on Dr. King's economic agenda. So often the reason for the March has been overshadowed by the "I Have a Dream Speech."

* I've been having trouble plotting this bit for my table top, but today the flood gates opened and I now have a ton of near future stuff to do with them. (I've got plenty of long plotting, but the timing's wrong). It's rather a relief.
