I am waiting to see how bad the inevitable bacterial lung infection's going to get and I'm still dealing with a particularly painful chronic inconvenience, but I think the virus things might be finally on the wane. *digits cruciform* I dreamed an alternate reality where I never visited the PNW, so when I dropped out of my first college I went North, to New England, instead of West which was very likely what would have happened if I'd not gone for that visit the August before Junior year. I still ended up teaching, in this version, though so many of the other choices went differently, spooling out from that one decision point where I fell so deeply in love with a bit of geography in real life, and thus cut short a relationship and a whole massive decision tree was felled.
* Robots vs. Fairies is the incredibly rare anthology that has no duds in it. Every single story was interesting. Some gripped my heart, like Second to the Left and Straight On. Some were really clever and fun, like Build Me a Wonderland. Some were chilling, like Bread and Milk and Salt. All were worth reading, and it was hard to put the book down.
