"They are guilty of allowing him to exist for 40 years....Someone should prosecute and go after them." So the literal teenagers half his age or less were solely responsible for a grown man's decision to molest them, but by contrast the Pedophile deserves the honor and reward of being a United State's Senator.

Why do I say this is the mainstream of the Alabama Republican Party? Because multiple Republican officials are still endorsing and defending him on the grounds that pedophilia is a Christian value stretching all the way back to the virgin Mary, etc.. Because there are plenty of ordinary Republicans willing to defend him publicly over it. Because he’s successfully fundraising on it. If they aren’t pro-pedphilia, why the fuck would they do that? If it’s not mainstream, why are their so many of them and why do they put so many people with these odious views in charge? Why is 45 president if the Republican Party isn't enthusiastically pro sexual predator?

Go back and read the original claims. If a teacher did those things to students, trust me there would be no doubt that those things were illegal and the teacher would be locked up so fast the papers would be still settling on the desk. If a teacher did only the things Roy Moore has admitted to doing (supposedly consensual kissing), that teacher would be fired and license revoked even in states like Pennsylvania where the age of consent is ridiculously low. In my state, he’d have been arrested.

And I believe the women. All of them.

* Nothing points out to me how much our culture has changed for the better in my life time than watching stand up comedy from the '70's and early '80's. So much of it is flat out not funny anymore; not because of the references (which I am old enough to catch 99.9% of the time); but long strings of nasty, rambling, incredibly racist, misogynistic, anti-Semitic, homophobic, transphobic, ableist, etc. remarks no longer constitute jokes outside of certain specific venues, such as Trump rallies and FOX "News." It is oddly comforting in it's way.

I agree with you on the comedy stuff. Was just listening to a playlist of random older comedy on Pandora the other day and had to keep skipping tracks because of the homophobic, sexist and racist jokes. These days, the jokes that built these folks' careers are exactly what would ruin their careers now.

I honestly do think modern stuff is funnier. Less cliched, repetitive offensiveness and more truth to power, self mockery, playing with the absurd, which is much more to my taste, though I am completely willing to belive that in twenty years the stuff i like nw won't be funny anymore. Comedy is by it's nature a reflection of the culture and the time that produces it.
