* I apologize in advance for spamming you with Melissa Harris-Perry, but there is so much going in organized Republican voter fraud, voter intimidation, lying to voters, and voter suppression that it needs multiple segments. This stuff is dangerous, folks, The Republican belief that only wealthy white people should be allowed to vote and the legal and often illegal methods they use to enforce that belief is chopping at the roots of liberty. It's fundamentally wrong and the biggest danger to our Republic that I can think of right now because it removes all means of correction and redress. Yes, I'm aware of how big and dangerous the surveillance state is. Yes, I find the widespread effort to remove basic civil rights from more than half the country scary. Trust me, I'm up on the financial issues and the massive disasters climate change is causing right now. None of these huge problems or a host of other ones can ever be properly addressed if we have lost the right to vote. It is the most important right of citizenship, and they want to reserve it for privileged few. If this doesn't terrify you, you aren't paying attention.

* Hector howled through four hours of my sleep cycle. After he slept off the goosh, it was hour after hour of inconsolable howling as well. I did finally convince him to play with the catnip mouse and after he was willing to eat and sleep. I wish there were some way to get him to eat and sleep without hours of drama.

* Fish Catastrophe update: With the patterns it's bad, but it's looking like it wasn't a clean sweep as about half of them were kept wrapped in plastic so they got a bit damp, but not soaked. About half. The really expensive irreplaceable one got wet, but not soaked. *fingers crossed* My favorite pattern set is a mass of goop along with another frequently used one. Of course. Why were they under there? I tucked them there during the great unpacking with plans to move them when more furniture came, only they didn't fit where I planned to put them and never remembered to find a better place. Of course. I'm leaving the notion box in place as it's plastic and more in demand even with the machine stolen. Patterns are finding a new home once I know what will survive. I managed to cut myself fairly badly without noticing so got blood on stuff where blood oughtn't be. The otos are hiding right now, and it will likely be a while before I can tell if they'll survive the comparatively rough capture and transfer. Everything is autoclaved, I opted to use the tank for washing off the other gear despite the leak as it will protect the sink from loose dirt particles.

* I still only have a small number of Tumblr followers, which is fine. Until today, my most popular posts in no particular order have been three fandom related pictures of hot guys, a picture of e. coli, and a thing on Japanese Internment camps. Most of my stuff only gets a few notes.

Ten last night I posted that link to Seanan McGuire's piece on a man asking her when her characters will be raped. I logged on to upwards of 200 reposts and climbing. I had just passed 250 when last I checked. Apparently, I got picked up by someone way more popular.

It still amazes me that anyone who doesn't know me looks at things I say. That goes like triple on somewhere like Tumblr where I'm older and slower than most people on there and my stuff is mostly things from here and reblogs of things I think are cool. I mean, there are picture blogs, fandom blogs, and political blogs, and my shit looks really random compared to the folks I follow and I make zero attempt to attract followers, as I'm pretty much in it for following folks, rather than being followed, if that makes sense.

The heartening thing? The reaction I very positive with folks saying supportive things and/or vowing to buy her books.
