* Tavy had a successful visit with LM Kitty in which he didn't start any fights and generally behaved himself for hours. I am very proud of him and it would be good for them both if they can have more frequent social time. (LM used to be a massive bully, but is old and frail and no longer enjoying wrestling matches. What she wanted was another elderly cat she could hang out on the sofa with being quietly social without actually touching, like she had with Mache and Hector when they were alive).

* Okay, I give up. Why in the fuck was there a live lady bug inside my left nostril at 9:31 PM on a rainy November evening when I was indoors? Like how does that even happen?

I put her outside in one of the patio plants, as there is nothing for her in here.

* I thought I'd missed Skate Canada entirely because my end of October is always a mess, but it looks like I caught maybe a women's highlights rebroadcast, and I've not seen the NHK yet, so please no spoilers. I will say that Daleman's still uneven, which makes me sad. Ashley Wagner is very polished, which she should be, this being her third year with that free program I think. I think Karen Chen switching programs to something brand new right before the Grand Prix was a mistake and I am worried for her. She has so much potential, but her skate was rather a mess. I felt terrible for Courtney Hicks, who clearly isn't there yet and tries so hard. Maria Sotskova has the technicals and skates very well. If she were skating for Canada or the US she'd be going to the Olympics for sure, I suspect. Russia has such a deep and wide women's skating program though and she's not extraordinary enough to stand out the way she'd pretty much need to in a field that impressive. Still, she's another one who could do fine if she went, I think. Kaetlyn Osmond's program was quite good despite a the technical mistakes. Me watching back to back Swan Lakes: Well, at least it's not Bolero or "Music of the Night." *shudder* Anna Pogorilaya's version wasn't nearly as well choreographed as Miss. Osmond's and there were bad mistakes, including a fall where she appeared to really hurt herself. It took real grit to get up after the last one and do the last spin. I wept for her, it was that bad. She's been uneven since last Spring and I don't like her chances given her competition for the third Olympic slot.

On the Men's side, all I got was the Uno skate before it cut off. Despite the mistakes this time, I really like this choreography for him, and I just love watching him skate.

* I was going to write extensively about the Ladies' competition at Cup of China, but am too tired, I think. I will say that I think whichever two of the top three women Japan picks for Olympics are fine with me. Despite my partiality to Mai Mihara's crisp elegance, I do wish she skated faster, and all three of the women are so strong and fun to watch I honestly think whichever go will do fine. For all my real sympathy for Radionova, I think the Russians would likely do better to send Zagitova with Medvedeva to the Olympics, but she'd make a fine third.

* I wrote a longer version of this on Tumblr, but the short form is: If you need Trigger Warnings and/or cut posts on things I am not properly marking, PM me and I'll try to remember and fix it. I am not perfect, especially when I am as tired and ill as I currently am. I would much rather someone toss me a reminder than for me to be triggering people. I do forget things; I do slip up. * I know it sounds like I am making this up, but I'm not. When I was taking Greenwick home yesterday, we came to an intersection where there are two clearly marked lanes, one for left turns, one for right. Some asshole was smack in the middle blocking both lanes and preventing us doing a right turn on red. I glanced down, and the license plate was from Alberta. I live in the States, y'all. Yes, we're close to the border, but we are just South of Vancouver, so while we get a lot of Canadians, they are mostly from BC. It was like someone had deliberately driven here to reenact a classic Canadian regional stereotype humor moment.
