gwydion: Vlad and Niran kissing (Kiss)

* Rand Paul is claiming that being in favor of Medicare, Medicaid and other forms of all access health care is exactly the same as being pro-slavery. O.o

Can we tie him down and make him watch Amistad, the section of the big PBS civil war documentary with the photographs of real slaves and the horrible damage the beating did to their bodies, and Roots Clockwork Orange style? Because last I checked doctors are very well played and no one is whipping them, maiming them, raping them, killing them, and preventing them from having freedom of movement, choice of work, access to education, reproductive choices (unless they are women which is a whole other problem and nothing to do with the liberal positions he's claiming constitute imposing slavery). It seems to me that a privileged white doctor who can quit at any time is nothing at all like a slave and maybe someone needs to make Rand Paul understand that devaluing the horror that is slavery by likening it to being incredibly rich and privileged is seriously fucked up.

You sir, are not a slave. Compensating doctors for saving lives does not constitute slavery. Fuck you, Rand Paul.

* I see Glen Beck has come out against skin cancer awareness on the grounds that he personally doesn't want to bone Megan McCain and therefore everything she says must be wrong. After all, it is a popular conservative idea that any policy or idea put forward by a woman should not be based on it's merit but on the male conservatives attraction to the woman. I've been talking about it for a while, but this seems particularly egregious. After all, he's come out in favour of people getting skin cancer based entirely on his lack of boner. That's fucked up. Talk about thinking with the little head instead of the big one.

I'm also suspecting that Mr. Beck needs to get his eyes checked.

* Speaking of eyes, I was awakened early this morning by the Optometrist's office. it seems that the manufacturer and the third party vendor both shipped my frames with heroic speed and they arrived today. O.o If I still wanted them, I needed to come pretty much right away as they were closing after lunch. As promised the frames were half price, compared to the bottom level of the commercial frames. They are the wrong colour (brown instead of black). I said I didn't care what colour they were as long as it wasn't fuchsia or chartreuse. Yes, I'd have preferred black or blue, but brown is acceptable. When handing over the cash, I discovered an unaccounted for twenty, which solved the financial crisis the glasses caused. I've just enough money left for cat food and probably meds. It's be better if there was more money for the inevitable emergencies, but my glasses are staying on my face as I type without a daily jury rig to hold them mostly on, and I can focus my eyes to read without a head ache.

Of course between my cough, Hector's ongoing drama, the whole having to drive to the Optometrist, the bank, and the Pharmacy mid sleep cycle, I'm still ridiculously short on sleep.

* Speaking of reading, I liked Huff's third Valour book rather more than the first two for no particular reason i can put my finger on. All i know is that even though I figured out too many things very early, I had a wonderful time getting there anyway. I'm also mostly through Tamora Pierce's Bloodhound, and while I'm a bit conflicted by the handling of transgender folk, I'm mostly okay with it, as the issues are with the character's responses as opposed to structural (this is me glaring at Lois Bujold for her handling of trans men).

* There will be no mocking of anyone in this journal about porn stash ownership. I'm betting the only non-asexual or hyposexual adult on this journal who doesn't own a little porn, and that's only because my tastes are rather specific and the finding of gay vanilla goth porn with a reasonable about of foreplay and models in my attraction range would cost way more time and money than I'm willing to invest. I am not judgmental about porn as long as it features consenting adults. (Yes, I know some asexual and hyposexual people use porn too. I just meant that they are the only ones who might not. Yes, I'm counting Victoria's secret catalogs if you are using them that way).

Let ze who is without porn cast the first mock.

I think it's creepy when people who are in favour of religious and sexual freedom behave like seventh graders over someone else's porn stash. Masturbation is nothing to be ashamed of, so let's drop it, okay? I'm far from George Lopez' biggest fan, but I think this saying of his is a pretty good one to live by, "Life is too short not to have an orgasm every day."

* BPAL's dropped a new 13 and Lunacy. Lucky for me both look impossible for me too wear so I needn't mourn my lack of funds to buy.

I really need to put together more ebay sales based on my collection spring cleaning, but I'm giving it one more swap iteration.

* The insurance kerfuffle finally got sorted and I have my drugs and hence an appetite again. Now to convince insurance I deserve lung meds.

* There is a celebrity doodle auction to help folks with neurofibromatosis: http://www.doodledayusa.org/

* I found a dead tetra on the floor today. I am baffled as to how it happened. Still, the other ten are fine and this has been a rather robust set.
