* TNG Season 3 Rewatch:
- The Price. Finally a debate on the dubious ethics of Star Fleet Telepathy. Unfortunately the person calling out Deanna for her horribly unethical behavior is just as bad with less cause. Also, Deanna Troi has the worst taste in men. First Riker, now this creepy dick measuring slime ball.
- The Defector. I really like this one, but then I also loved the DS9 season 1 war criminal one. There is something about an unreliable person in high stakes interrogation with culture clash that interests me every time. They are very different stories, but both tragedies.
- The Hunted is sadly very timely given the militaries continued refusal to help soldiers adjust to home, made worse in the face of our forever war in Afghanistan and the multiple tours people have done/keep doing in Iraq and Afghanistan leading to way higher levels of trauma for some soldiers and the ever higher suicide rate for veterans. This is, of course a Star trek style super soldier senario, but the point still stands, much the way the season 2 Data Personhood theme still stands in relation to the treatment of trans folk and Poc in this country. I wish this stuff wasn't timely. I really do. "We want our lives back. We want to come home." How many veterans have wanted the same? This one also, scratches at some of my personal doors, given the nature of my abuse. I had no memory of this episode analogous to my intense reaction to the Picard torture episode in the final season that spoke so directly to my personal experience, but damned if I didn't recognize the all too familiar flavour of that prisoner's anger and bitterness on meeting the Councillor. Ouch. Vintage me. "My battle is never over." You tell 'em, Roga Danar. You tell 'em.
Side note: Who was Jefferies and why did they name the tubes after him? Aren't they just crawlspaces with access panels?
