* I don't think I've said this clearly, so I will now. The TV shoe Preacher is not Comic book Preacher; it is geometrically better. They were RIGHT to toss out the plot, which was very much a thing of it's time and wouldn't work well two decades later. They were right to correct a lot of the problematic shit that went on. The were very much right to make a dramatically better and more fleshed out Tulip. Seriously, I love Show Tulip so much! I love the gay angel/demon duo (I assume that's what's going on, though it's just hints at this point) so much more than the Adelphi they replace. Cassidy is Cassidy and horrible in all the right ways. This is not book Jesse at all, but I don't particularly mind at this point and I want to thump him with the clue stick and the grow the fuck up stick every bit as much as the original. The show isn't perfect and I give some things the side eye, but compared to the problematic (Racist, Sexist, Ablist, and Homophobic at minimum) in the original this is light years better, while keeping most of the tone and a similar sense of humor. I actively avoid most of Seth Rogan's body of work (not usually my type of humor and his laugh is like fingernails on a chalk board to me), but I am incredibly impressed that he turned the uneven and often dated comic book into something that I can love the way I loved the original when it was new. The reread of the comic book is like pulling teeth; I watch the show with pleasure.

Seriously, I get how it's an easy mistake to make for a non-french speaker, but it amuses me that it took me that long to figure out what went wrong.
