* So not only was I up at entirely the wrong time of morning for an extra Doctor appointment, but I had an extra adventurous drive with a car that kept stalling out as it was running on fumes. All to see the wrong Doctor, one who is not familiar with my multiple filing cabinets worth of medical history. So I'm shaved to the bone financially with a wait and see on my lungs. I came home, ate, then coughed 'til I threw up, and now can't get enough air. At least the window washers were hot men, one of whom was willing to pull our screens for the procedure instead of skipping us.

* Fear the Walking Dead: Look, I know it sounds stupid to quibble about unrealistic things in a zombie show, but there's a difference between asking me to accept one big premise (zombies) in an otherwise fairly realistic setting. It's another thing to throw in lots of little details that are not related to that big fictional premise which I know contradict reality. Skye's father had a yacht. Not one as big as the one in the show, but large enough. Those things are gas guzzlers. You need to refuel them, like, a lot. It's not like my soldier's dad's sailboat with a back up motor where you don't need that much fuel with friendly winds. With a boat like they have on the show you basically have to fuel up every day or two depending on how far and fast you are going, currents, and electricity use. Again, I don't know that model, but I haven't seen them fuel up or plug in when they were docked and they are meant to be going fast and pretty much constantly. I'm assuming this boat has way bigger fuel tanks, but it also clearly has a much larger motor. I've no clue the specs on a big yacht like that, but I've been worrying constantly about fuel every episode waiting for it to run low, and it bugs me that they didn't seem to fuel up in episode 2. Skye's dad fueled up every time they docked, just in case, because you are pretty much fucked if you run out of fuel on a large body of water like the Columbia or the Puget Sound, or all Deities help you on the Ocean. I rather assume this is what did the folks in on the Dawn of the Dead reboot. Run out of gas, you have options. Run out in the Ocean when there is no coast guard anymore to rescue you? *shudder* The fact that no one's even mentioned fuel nags at me constantly while watching it.
Similarly, what's up with Nick's addiction? Is Strand feeding him rationed pills off camera? Because otherwise, the fuck happened to his withdraw? I wish they'd clarify this, because I am constantly staring at nick when he's on screen and thinking about RL addicts I've known. Admittedly, I've never been there for acute withdraw, but I remember the way D's hands would shake her first week or two out of heroin detox back when we were both 15. (we used to play a lot of cards. Helped take her mind off it. I didn't use and was restful company back then, willing to listen and talk about anything, but not a use trigger, so I was a good person to be around for where she was right then). I remember how generally shaky various of by friends have been after we got them back from a bad one.
Look, I love character based ambiguity, and am cool with endings of books and movies that can be read more than one way, but with these real world details, I desperately need some disambiguation, because it's messing with my suspension of disbelief. I can suspend for zombies OR I can suspend for magically refilling fuel tanks OR I can suspend for some sort of weird withdraw situation, though the withdraw is actually harder to suspend for than the zombies, because no one is really pretending zombies aren't absurd. (Mutated rabies in a live host that burns the host out is less absurd. Walking Dead infectious zombies are in the realm of right out). So I really need to know what the fuel situation is and a shot explaining Nick's drug situation. I can see Strand having drugs on hand as I rather assumed his lack of sleep was cocaine related, but I shouldn't have to work to honey pot this when they could spend like thirty seconds showing us WTF.
I am also finding the characters frustrating. How hard is it to grasp at this point with previous near death experiences behind them, that wandering away from the group without saying where you are going is a bad idea? The ep.2 family TOLD them about noise. Do they have any survival instincts at all? At least Carl and Sophia had the excuse of ages in single digits, and I was impatient with it then. No one has an excuse like that here and the wait for the teens to get their heads out their asses is making me cranky.
