* At the perpetual Friday protest in front of the Post Office down town, there were more Bernie signs than there were anti-war ones. O.o There was actually a "Trekkies for Bernie" and several people discussing how Bernie's platform did or didn't line up with Trekverse ideals. This seemed somehow quintessentially PNW. I didn't see signs for any other candidates. The peace protest had taken two corners, Elect Bernie had one. No one was in front of the Rite Aid, which is weird. That's usually Peace or misc political.

* I had a fascinating time watching "Ghosts of Amistad" where they went to the villages in the region the Amistad Africans were kidnapped from and asked village elders about them. Sembe's village was destroyed, so they had to go to villages in the area, but some of the other villages are actually still there. It was good to hear the Sierra Leonian perspective. The things about leadership and their rebellion at Lomboke didn't make it into Western histories. They showed the descendants a portrait of one of them. There was something delightful about knowing at least one of them had a full life after this terrible thing was done to him and is still remembered.

* I had all sorts of things to do online Friday, but we had a massive outage. I did do some necessary errands, as there is literally one day in which my credit card payment would be spendable credit this month, so I did buy some filters with the sliver of leeway. Not enough. We still are desperately short on biofilters, but I changed out the three in the worst shape. (Green filters come in packs of two, blue in packs of one). When I got home I did some more organizing to maximize sun, not that we had much today. I did dishes, filled buckets, and even managed to make a nutritious dinner, all this despite the ongoing extreme pain situation. I did NOT need the rest of my evening disrupted.
