* Today is a huge struggle physically. I did get the presents to family mailed off, though it ended up eating into the insurance money, which means the ebay late payer just became the difference between going negative or not on my bank account. *fingers crossed*

* The thing with Hector reminds me of the last two years of my Mother's life. She kept going to the ICU on the brink of death, and making a miraculous recovery and being sent home, each time weaker and more tired with extra PTSD, until that last time when they planned to send her home in a week and her lungs collapsed and she died too fast for me to come. Hector keeps having episodes, like the scary stroke a month or two ago, and this recent thing where he did a very realistic impression of a cat in kidney failure, but seems to beating the infection after all. Each time he comes back frailer and more tired and scruffier, a little less steady on his feat. He's dodged the bullet again, I think, but I know what a downward slope looks like in a cat and I know there will be another incident that may or may not be the last one. All there really is to do is keep trying to get him to eat and give him lots of loves. He wants chicken and liver right now, only he snubbed it so much the last few months that I only bought the two cans which he's eaten. He's right now on the pouf, pressed against my leg for a nap, where he can get pettins on demand when he wakes, grumpy that all I could offer him was turkey or poultry platter, but wanting to be with his human, after most of a week of feeling crap.

* Figure Skating, More Barelona:

The Ladies shorts were rough for nearly everyone, so for most of them it was an issue of who recovered best. The exception was Evgenia Medvedeva, who skated beautifully. Medeveda is sixteen, and so a little unseasoned, but she was skating like the future.

Men's Long: Patrick Chan skated beautifully, but he just doesn't have enough quads to compete with the new generation coming up. Uno skated right after him in a similar style, but was so much more exciting to watch. It wasn't just the technicals; it was energy and connection to the audience. Poor Jin Boyang fell apart rather, which is a shame as when he is on? Wow! But not today, and the lack of seasoning was showing in between the elements he did pull off. By the time we get to next Olympics he will likely be on Hanyu's level, but he's uneven and not yet an entertainer. I'm so excited to see how he will develop. I love Javier Fernandez's style. He's just so fun to watch and is really solid technically. Barcelona was a personal best, and deservedly so. Hanyu was Hanyu, his skating so beautiful it verges on the uncanny valley, because I have trouble processing the way he makes things barely possible for the human body look effortless even though I know damned well they aren't. Hanyu made another world record, also deservedly so.
