gwydion* There's been deadly back and forth for about a month between Israelis and Palestinians. People are dying in individual attacks on both sides. Honestly, it is depressing and heartbreaking that this is where we still are a decade and a half into the 21st century. I haven't the energy to detail the back and forth of this and there are plenty of places you can get the details. I just can't do it.

* So far this campaign season Donald Trump has appropriated without consent music by Neil Young, REM, and Aerosmith. So symbolic, really. Refusal to understand consent, stealing from people, and absolute refusal to learn from mistakes and amend behavior accordingly. Add in his complete lack of reading comprehension because the lyrics in two of those songs have clear left wing messages but he didn't notice. He really is the perfect representation of what Republicans stand for in 2015.

* So as you may or may not remember, Misha is my real legal middle name, being a name used by both men and women. (My first name is also used by both men and women, but I never liked or identified with it at all. For a variety of reasons, keeping my legal signature was way less hassle, but I prefer people not use my legal first name.) Gwydion is my use name, which my friends use and have been using for a really long time. Seriously, if you are using Gwydion feel free to keep using it. I like it for a bunch of reasons. However, there are a bunch of contexts where using the Misha part of my legal name makes more sense instead of using my use name. Sometimes the long explanations involved are more effort than needs to happen for certain transactions and there are people outside of my sub-cultures who do not get the use name thing at all and it becomes this big drama. So in circumstances where it's apt to be major drama, I'm using Misha. You are welcome to call me either, and please, please don't correct folks for using either Gwydion or Misha( or Nec or NecHocNecIllud the last two are common social media handles for me). You are welcome to correct them for using my legal first name, because that is really just for banks and creditors, and I was well into my teens before I started answering to it semi-regularly and I frequently forget it is meant to refer to me. I've been going by use names pretty much my whole adult life. Feel free to keep using the use name. Feel free to switch to Misha if you are uncomfortable with use names or whatever. I just mention the Misha thing as it's come up enough in the last year, and the last month in particular, that an announcement is in order to avoid confusion.
* You may be wondering: whatever happened to Archaeology round up? A year ago, I ran a massive October long event on Game of Bones. It was so time consuming, I fell massively behind on everything Internetty. I did try to do archaeology round up periodically and gave up... I'm thinking last Spring? The links I post are the tip of the iceberg as far as the reading involved in keeping up with the archaeology press. Today I finally mostly caught up. O.o I still owe two Black Sails rewatch thingies. I also owe y'all about 2/3rds of a year of archaeology. Of course a lot of stuff in my "to read when I catch up" stash is gone by now, but I've hopes of starting to post catch up links soon. Tomorrow I have a party to go to and I absolutely can't promise dates on Black Sails or Archaeology Round up, but they are firmly on the to do list. If I am stubborn enough to spend a literal year catching up on my Internet reading, trust me, the other stuff will happen.
* So Hector is not doing too well. He's not quite as scary emaciated as last week when I thought he was dying in the immanent sense, but he's Disheveled and scary frail and having trouble making basic jumps. I keep checking him when he's asleep to make sure he's still breathing. He's doing that long fade elderly cats do. Last year he pulled out of it and there is always a chance he will again, but I'm not all that sanguine he will this time, so I'm giving him all the cuddles as this could easily be his last winter.
