* John Boehner is stepping down as speaker. Voluntarily! And the guy likely replacing him, Kevin McCarthy, has passed a total of two bills under his own name both renaming locations. With no meaningful legislation, he is remarkably inexperienced. Another choice is "David Duke without the baggage" a proud KKK sympathizer.

* I tried to watch the new Muppet show, but I didn't get very far. I get that most people are angry about the adult themes, but Sex Puppets ala Transmetropolitan might at least have been interesting. This sure wasn't. It looked to be the most boring sort of Office clone mixed with the most conventional sort of heteronormative rom com. Leverage did that so much better that one time, actually funny and incisive etc.. So I can't, I just can't.

I wish Boehner had stepped down quite awhile ago, but thank goodness! I'm counting this & Abbot stepping down as twin blessings.

Re: Muppet show. I'm in agreeance with the critics who are saying that the start wasn't very good but that's there's potential for it to be something else, something better, depending on what they do with guest stars etc. Putting Kermit and Piggy's romance at the front of things really sort of distracts and distorts the whole thing, though, since in the past, their "togetherness" really wasn't Who They Were. I actually thought Fozzie going to dinner at his human girlfriend's house and the awkwardness with her parents was actually a little promising, though, as it basically mirrored racism.

Fair enough.
I certainly won't be setting aside time in my calendar next week to watch it live, like I did last week, but may try to catch it sometime after, just to see where it's headed.
