Jan. 12th, 2011 06:03 pm* Luckily, it rained for a while this morning. There is still snow, but it's not as impossible looking as it was yesterday.
* I had to get up mid-sleep cycle for plot on Trin. The cats found this alarming and spent an hour milling around in confusion. "What is the human doing at the computer in the middle of the day? I thought we had an extended all clowder nap with option cuddling planned! Is the world ending?"
* According to Sarah Palin, asking people to stop calling for the assassinations of political rivals in the wake of an assassination attempt that left 6 dead and 14 wounded is "blood libel." IE: the equivalent of calling for a large scale pogrom against Jews. I'm having trouble seeing how that even makes logical sense (asking people to stop calling for murder is not the same as calling for genocide), but also belittles the real blood and death and violence Jews all over Europe were subjected to thanks to blood libel. Really, being asked to stop telling people to use "second amendment remedies" to "take out harry reed" or "If ballots don't work, bullets will" or Ms. Palin's own bullet related comments and graphics aimed at Congress woman Gifford is exactly the same as rounding up a whole town of German Jews, down to the newborns and burning them alive based on a lie? Really? Really? WTF?!? I know she has no shame, but still, wtf?!? Also, why would a christian be using a famously anti-Semitic reference about herself when an actual real life Jewish person is among the injured. It's insensitive bordering on creepy.
* I finished when fox Was a Thousand I liked about half of it a great deal, but it took too long to get to the point, I think, or maybe I missed the point. It just felt like it took too long to jell in a way that's hard to put my finger on.

* I never had an imaginary friend. At three of thereabouts, I learned that having one was normal and normal seemed important to adults. For several months, I would wait until the adults were watching me, then pretend to play with an imaginary imaginary friend. I would stop as soon as the weren't watching, since I had no idea what the point of an imaginary friend was or why one would want one. This pretense seemed to please the adults, even though the whole thing made no sense to me at all. I suppose it says quite a bit about how my toddler brain worked. Also, wow, my toddler self could act well enough to fool my Mother. I didn't tell her it was all an act until much later.
Anyway, every time I read accounts of other people's real imaginary friends I struggle to get my head around it. Here is an experience so different than mine, I can't really get a handle on it.
