* Re: Dallas Ebola case: Apparently he caught it helping take the landlord's daughter to the hospital. She and her uncle have died, since she was turned away from the hospital, and the Uncle nursed her. He really did tell the nurse he had been in Liberia and had potentially been exposed, as it made it into her chart notes. Someone higher up the treatment chain ignored that and sent him home with antibiotics, which are useless for viral infections. The authorities have contacted all the family and friends who may have been exposed in Dallas and are taking the risk seriously.
Again, it is way too soon to panic if you live in a country with a functioning health care system.
Here is the Donate link to Doctors Without Borders. They are the most experienced organization in dealing with ebola specifically and do incredibly good work in Africa and the world just generally. These folks are incredibly brave and their work in conflict zones saving civilians is mostly unsung and incredibly dangerous. https://donate.doctorswithoutborders.org/onetime.cfm?source=AZD140001D43&utm_source=bing&utm_medium=ppc&utm_term=brand_sitelink

* So what's up with me? I had a scheduling cock up which lead to me having to stay up all morning Monday. It also disrupted the meds schedule, and Tuesday I borked timing on the anti-nausea drugs. That level of nausea renders me entirely non-functional and the aftermath was rough, add to that me getting stranded and having to wait for rescue by AAA, the fact that I'm still having infection related lung trouble, and myriad things needing doing, I've been hard to reach. Apologies to anyone inconvenienced.
