Jan. 3rd, 2011 03:40 am* Deusabscondum, the civilization I was thinking of was Phoenician. I have no idea why I blanked on the word. Phoenicans were originally from the Palestine area and their civilization included Tyre of the famous purple. They were sea traders and as a result traveled pretty far and wide setting up little trading missions, often in other civilizations. Carthage descended from them. I no longer remember the context of our discussion, but at least my brain finally pulled up the word i blanked on.

* I finished Feed. Final count was only 3 out of 5 major plot twists guessed which is the first time in recent memory anyone's had two surprises for me in the same book. I want to grab people and tell them to go read it, it was that clever on multiple levels.
