I am really impressed by the level of care at San Mateo. The facility was small, but very much what one gets at a hospital. They had even more redundancy on various pre-surgical checks than the average ER. I'm very hard to stick, but the veteran ER nurse got the IV in the first try, which is better than the real ER manages. They don't hurry people who need extra care, and it was very reassuring that they delayed my surgery to make sure the person ahead of me was really okay. I'd much rather wait so that the person needing it get the full attention of staff. (The person was fine). My anesthesia intake was more thorough than most hospitals, and they took extra precautions. The anesthesia was clearly well calibrated, given how well and comparatively quickly I recovered.

It really hurts, but the Vicodin and ice are sufficient to keep things under control. Would I do this for fun? Hell, no, but I heartily recommend Dr. Bowers and the San Mateo Surgical Center.

Obviously, I'll have no idea how the results will be for some time, However, I've had a variety of surgeries for a variety of things, and the on site care was aces compared to any of the out patient procedures I've had, and right up there for kindness, attention, and precision with the folks who looked after me when I had Herberton removed. (Herberton was what we named my tumor colony.)
