* There are protests in Ukraine and even bigger, angrier protests going on in Thailand. The Ukrainian protests are about the scrapping of an EU deal by the government. The protests in Thailand are rather more complicated. Basically, it's a clash between the supporters of a deposed Prime minister, wanting him to be allowed to return to the country with amnesty on his corruption charges; on the other are supporters of the current government, with police trying to keep them apart. I am not anything like a close follower of Thai politics as my interest there is mostly trans* rights related, and if anyone who is more informed has an opinion, I'd be very interested in it.

* A man will do no prison time for three counts of raping a fourteen year old in Alabama on the grounds that child rape is a non-violence offense and having to be sober for six years is more than enough punishment for pedophilia.

* They have finally started arresting the adults who did things like cover up the Steubenville rapes, holding one of the parties, and failure to report child abuse. This isn't just for the more famous rape, but it turns out there's a pattern of rape cover up there.

* Mornings are generally bad for me. Its the time of day I have the most pain and difficulty moving. I went to bed very early last night, but my medical issues make sleep especially hard right now and I was wide awake well before I needed to leave to meet the contractors. I still did not want to go, as lying in bed reading and petting cats was more to my tastes than dealing with the horrible stairs and sitting on cold cement waiting for the contractor before the frost had melted. I went anyway. No contractor. I waited a whole extra half hour. No contractor. I went and got OTC stuff I hoped might make sleep more reasonable. I ate lunch, had meds, and filled the AM med sorter thingie. The contractor did not call, so I tried the number. The head dude had no idea what I was talking about at first. One we achieved clarity (The Thursday guy said to meet him at 9:30AM today, so they could take out the test stuff and get results as to vapor pressure on the floor), he was frankly horrified. Apparently the young man had not only spaced the appointment, but didn't tell the grown ups at head office WTF either. Doh! They did resolve it and I eventually went back out to let their guy in. They'll let me know when they are fixing the foundation.
