* RP Shenanigans in Spain:

Blake needed to break into the Library in the imperial compound. He cased the joint and stealthed over the wall and onto the roofs. He created a distraction and snuck in the staff entrance. He made it through the scriptorium and was breaking into the rare book room when a big eunuch caught him. He tried to bribe his way out, but the eunuch did not buy it. Blake tried to talk his way out, but dropped the wrong names and contradicted himself. The Eunuch tried to take him to Head Librarian. A struggle ensued during which he knocked out the under librarian. However, the commotion drew the Head Librarian, who Blake took for a vampire. He was mistaken. (I loved his expression as the last puzzle piece fell into place when he realized that she was a spider). Luckily, the group had warned the spiders of the shifter plague, so she felt she owed the pack one. He checked with cockroach that the scrolls would return to the library, and swore that on his honor. She let him have the scrolls with reluctance. He delivered them where the cockroaches said.

They took sensible precautions and made it to Sanlúcar de Barrameda in what will be Cadiz Provence, without drama. There Blake and Skull went off to be wolves in the extremely tame countryside nearby while the others networked with the locals. Skull and Blake found a little strip of woods with a stream in it. In the night they met weird local faery and learned that a dark fae counter part lived across the stream. The next day they hunted and killed the whippoorwill. Meanwhile, the others learned of the resistance and the dangers to overland travel. They agreed to carry messages to the Resistance in Cordoba, and got passage with friendlies in exchange.

In Cordoba, they made contact with a kinfolk at a bookstore who promised to arrange meetings and gave them a reliable inn to stay in. Blake recognized a nearby bath house from his vision and the guys had the full spa treatment. (Skull dressed as a man, but could not do communal bathing in single sex settings). Skull took Mildeburge to the public gardens for a stroll and a scoping out of the Emir's compound. On the way home, a diseased beggar ankle grabbed Blake. Tiger carried the fevered man to a nearby physician and paid for treatment. The man puked up thin white worms. The physician had his assistants clean the man and mix up medicines. One of them went to get another physician to consult Our guys went home for dinner. Later the met with the local Striders, with whom they traded messages and news, including that of the sick beggar. Later they did the same with the only cat in the city. She told them if they freed the menagerie cats, she could get them to safety. It was unclear if the Tiger and cubs were Karkann's relatives. There were also some leopards. Karkann's mother went into the mountains to "find her mate" and was never seen again. The Lore Keeper took their stories and added to their store of stories about "the Jewel of the World." They decided to make Mildeberg up as a boy to save hassle. The next day they used contacts Gwallog made in the bath to sell spice to the palace, which let them case the servant's entrance and kitchen areas.

After, they checked on the beggar as no word had come and found them all deathly ill, except the beggar, who was weak, but recovering between Tiger's spell and the physician's tending. They put together a ritual, after consultation with various spirits. They learned that this parasite had come from the deep Umbra through a week place in the fabric of reality that was made during the Battle of Rome. Someone was using it and spreading it in Rome, Valencia, and now here. They used spirit owl eggs, shifter blood, Tiger disease healing spell, and venom from a very old Goddess with ties to growth and death and snakes and blood, who is now Blake's special friend, him having fed her. She warned that the venom would heal or kill depending on the virtue of the one it was administered to. the word translated as virtue here was a pre-Christian idea of virtue involving being good at/suited to one's purpose. The results varied. One of the apprentices and the first physician died. They nearly lost the oldest daughter. The youngest apprentice was put into a strange state requiring him being tended because "He is vulnerable to many things." They evacuated the survivors and torched the place, making sure the fire did not spread, as the worms tried to escape and they were scared of the contagion lingering. They planned to set the physician's widow up in business and to make the beggar one of Gwallog's factors.

The Journeyman never returned home last night and was unaccounted for. "He could be anywhere!" Luckily, yesterday Karkann dropped off a gift basket of food for the rats and told them of the parasites. They delivered the sick journeyman saying, "This is your problem." They used one of Skull's owl eggs, Tiger's last point of Gnosis, and the last of the serum to save the teenager and bring him home to his mother, with plans to buy him a place with the consulting physician.
