* There was an Al Shabaab attack on a Mall in Kenya Saturday, followed by a hostage situation that continued as I wrote this (Monday in Kenya, Sunday evening here). The Somali terrorists used guns and grenades. At least 68 were dead and 175 wounded as far as I can tell. Among the dead are members of the Kenyan President's family. The latest report I could find showed 10-15 terrorists still holding some hostages. As it was still ongoing as I wrote this, it may be out of date when you read it. Apologies.

* We have cut capital gains tax three times in six years but have only raised minimum eage three times in twenty years as part of our government's long term policy of making sure those born rich don't need to pay their share, those who work the hardest job be denied a living wage, and in hopes of raising wealth inequality to 19th century level in the hopes of permanently stratifying the class system. After all, the more wealth we suck out of the economy and into overseas bank accounts, the worse the economy will be for people who work for a living and the further the middle class will shrink, all major goals of Republican and moderate democratic economic policy.

* RP: Sailing to Byzantium:

They left the Tiger behind to do Tiger things and traveled via the Aetherial realm to the vicinity of Constantinople. They are going to New Rome to opose the Sunlight Society that is capturing Shifters. They walked the last bit. The city was ig and confusing and crowded in a way only Shepard was in any position to deal with. None of the others spoke Greek which was a problem given the religious/political turmoil in the city. Mildeburg, Gwallog's pet sorcerer was settled in an Inn near the harbor. They ended up taking a taxi there. Shepard retreated after dinner to make translation stones for the others. Mildeburg took them to bathhouses. The saw a religious related brawl broken up by guards. In the morning they discovered they were essentially sleeping over a sports bar. As they had learned Greens were opposing the Sunlight Society they'd hoped to get information at the Inn. Alas, the eatery was Green affiliated, but not political. They went out to study graffiti and noticed some odd symbols above some adverts and notices. Shepard let them know their might be a Garou meeting at a coffee house later. The Shifters decided to send Blake with the other two nearby as back-up in case of a trap. Meanwhile, Shepard went to check out what he hoped was a Mage affiliated tea house. It was, and he managed to infiltrate what turned out to be some of the Greens. The ones he made friends with were a mix of Ecstatics, Explorers, and arts and crafty types. There was a another group of Court and Church based types he didn't mingle with. The meeting at the coffee house turned out to be legit. Ethiopian food was served and visitors and locals introduced themselves and a meeting followed. The Garou were Striders and Gnawers, but there were some unspecified non-garou shifters in the minority. Blake opted for honesty and asked about the Sunlight Society. They didn't know much, but the disappearances had been going on for about a year. They mentioned it was a Mage dominant city with lots of vampires and they had some less savory allies and would ask around. It was at this point, Skull spotted cloaked figured with swords and loser linked Blake the alarm. Shifters fled through various exits while the front of the restaurant poured into the street as a distraction. Blake fled through the sewers with a Strider who noticed changes along their route that worried him. Blake was caught and questioned by a Nosferatu, and released with a faction mark on paper, but no memory of the encounter. He caught up with the Strider on the wharf and was given a message drop location if he needed to contact the local Shifters. Skull hid on a roof to watch the mayhem. Gwallog and Mildeburg were chased by a cloaked figure but Gwallog resisted the magic ze used to try to capture them. Shepard's tattoo followed Gwallog, and Shepard was able to send a windy distraction via the tattoo to slow the magey attacker. Later they compared noes. It was obvious that there were mages in the Sunlight Society and others opposing them. Obviously the bit of paper with the symbol on it was a clue they need to follow up. The Symbol was associated with an apothecary shop among the myriad graffiti adverts. (For the record, I rolled to see which of the local Noseferatu they could have encountered and they got pretty lucky. It could have gone so much worse).

Note: We are too early for the Ascension War, so Tradition mages and Technocracy mages are still just mages. Factions do exist though. Similarly, we are pre-Sabbat vs. Camarilla. Oh, do factions exist amoung the vampires even within clans.
