gwydion* Given how the numbers going into the weekend, I'm not particularly surprised the Syria vote got postponed. Putin is claiming Assad is willing to turn their chemical weapons over to him or at least allow weapons inspections. Assad was out lying about the war again just generally. I'm still not sanguine about any of the options, as I don't particularly trust Assad to allow honest inspections, but I would love a diplomatic solution.
* I am seeing some really creepy racist stuff turning up in Syria commentary in the media. It is completely reasonable to think Assad is a terrible person who wages war on children, without falling back on disgusting stereotypes of middle easterners as a whole that go back to the Crusades.
* Michelle Bachmann decided now was a good idea to fuck up our foreign policy in the Middle Egypt by going to Egypt to lie that the Muslim Brotherhood rather than Al Quaeda was responsible for 911.
"We remember..." No you don't, because you just made that up, Sen. Bachmann.
* George Zimmerman's estranged wife called 911 because George Zimmerman attacked and threatened to shoot her and her father. Remember, he not only hunted and killed an unarmed teenager, but has a history of domestic violence. The police did not search Mr. Zimmerman's car, but did not find a gun on his person. Mr. Zimmerman's attorney confirms Mr. Zimmerman had his gun on him, however. They've all been questioned and they are checking security video. As of this writing, no one has been arrested. Oh, and he still has his gun so he can continue threatening and hunting down unarmed women and children.
* Mayor Bloomberg calls Del Blasio racist for featuring his mixed race family in adds the way politicians with all white families do:
