* The more I think about it, the angrier I am. We put earnest money down last week and now this week, they randomly raised the price more than $5000 because the bank owning it has decided they shouldn't have to pay to cover the liens which is industry standard. After they took money on the lower price. I do not understand how that is legal. It smacks of bait and switch. None of the other options we looked at are remotely suitable. It seems to me bank of evil can better afford to pay the liens than I can with my limited nest egg and fixed income.

That definitely smacks of something like bait&switch... and I suspect there are multiple regulatory bodies you could file a complaint with. (That bank may even be one of the ones involved in illegal practices during the housing bust... which might give you ammunition and more moral high ground.)

It's been so long since I bought property of any kind (and i don't know how those bodies might vary state to state) that I don't have any actual/useful suggestions. All I can do is agree that it's just not right.

Oh they are the worst offender from the housing crisis. I sent an offer to split the back taxes etc.. Likely, I'm going to have to pay the higher price, as there is nothing close to as good in the same price range.

I am so fucking glad I will not be having a Mortgage. I don't trust the banks at all.
