* The Syrian government is brutally bombing the civilians of al Qusayr. They are running out of food, water, and medical supplies in Qusayr. The US State Department is demanding that Hezbollah immediately withdraw their fighters from the battle there. No one seriously thinks Lebanon will.

* Meanwhile, it looks like John McCain may have been hanging out with guys who kidnap religious pilgrims for fun while he was in Syria undermining the pece process. O.o:

* Someone has tried to risin poison Mayor Bloomberg and people at "Mayors Against Guns." A third letter was sent today to the President. All three are from Shreveport. Yes, that Shreveport. The ones to Bloomberg and his organization also contained death threats as well as poison and are clearly from the same person. The risin wasn't weaponized, so it wasn't instantly lethal, which is good as the head of Mayors against guns opened the letter himself and could have died if it was the weaponized form. Neither Bloomberg nor the President were at risk as there is more care with their mail.

* Another particularly violent tornado hit a Tulsa suburb. It seems to have done lots of property damage, but luckily they don't seem to be reporting fatalities.

* Southern California continues to burn.

* Coal Company steals pensions and benefits from workers through a scheme where they spin off a company with liabilities and almost no assets. Remember that to conservatives, the only contracts that are sacred are those between rich people. A judge sides against the workers who's benefits and pensions were stolen.:

* What have I been doing this week? Mostly research and composting for a massive spirit quest my table top folks are doing. I put most of my other projects on hold for the duration. I've got another chunk of that to do, plus some composting and research for the level quest I'm running next week. (We're missing a player, and someone needs a level quest. Serendipity). Part of why the acorn quest is so complicated is we're also picking a totem, so I'm working in totems, totem brood members, and dovetailing various themes. As a result, I'm also using thematic realms, etc. and working in various things from the character backgrounds, obligations, and affinities.. It's coming together, and most crucially, the bits I ran tonight were mostly together. Still, it's pretty much eating my brain. I also did a big pile of bureaucracy and today made photo copies of documents I need to mil out with my other paperwork. This is always exhausting and time consuming, but it's done.

* What are the Characters doing? Warning: I don't do wraith or changeling, substituting my own versions of ghosts and fairies. We also have a bunch of house rules and I alter canonical Umbra realms, mostly for reasons of logic, fun, or playability.

They are hunting an acorn of rebirth so as to replant a sacred tree as part of trying to fix a desecrated caern. They went to the Penumbra where they befriended the Twice Born. They are now protecting, feeding, and transporting a mouse colony in exchange for the twice born acting as spirit guides on the quest. The mice told them they needed a potion, which meant getting the recipe, which meant digging a hole to a very spooky place. They sacrificed ash, bone, and blood to summon the gods of the mice who turned out to be Owl Incarna. They were respectful and traded a secret for the recipe, written in tiny runes on mouse skin. They climbed out into my version of Pangaea, where they could hunt for ingredients. They tangled with some raptors and slept in a tree. This might not sound like much, but there was a lot of negotiating and playing with various environments.
