gwydion* A couple in Brazil was attacked in a way very similar to the infamous Delhi rape and murder. They were on a bus, the driver drove them to an isolated area. The attackers handcuffed the boy friend and beat him and they raped the girlfriend. These things are horrifying and I can only hope the outcome is better than in the Delhi case. Two men have been arrested.
* It's looking like a string of murders of public officials may be connected to organized white supremacist gangs. So different shooters and gangs, but possibly part of a general organized white supremacist strategy. It's still speculation, but given the way these groups act as a combination of terrorist group and organized crime throughout the West this is no surprise to me. Given the constant and widespread danger that white racist terrorists pose, it seems to me wildly irrational that racial profiling targets brown people, when a vast majority of terrorist in this country are white men, especially if you also figure in the KKK, right to life bombers and assassins, and anti-gay terrorists more often based out of the South and Midwest, in combination with our Western white supremacist and christian extremists. Yes, I get the 9/11 was scary, but compare that with the huge casualties of more than a century and a half of white male Christian terrorism that is ongoing in this country, I think people are scared of the wrong people. Just saying.

* Hector's on day three of waking me up every couple hours to complain. The Butt is improving slowly but noticeably day by day. This is leading to inevitable squabbles as the Butt when given an inch takes a mile and the clowder is having to reestablish boundaries that were lowered when the little knucklehead was dying. Given the amount of chaos and damage he's been doing, I'm likely going to have to do the same. Today was a prosaic errand day: car tabs, oil in the car, library, dropping off the players wanted sign, pay rent, mail bills etc.. My hearing is much better. Things are still a bit muffled and blurry in my left ear, but it's actually helping the right rather than hindering at this point, so I can live with it if this is as good as it gets.
* I am in the the victim notification program because I like knowing where the murderer of my ex is. (For new readers, I doubt the murderer would do it again and I have no fear of him. This isn't about that.) Today I got a notice from the system. I stared at it a long while trying to figure out if it was spam. I had literally completely forgotten the murderer's name. Fear not: it turned out they'd just moved him to a different correctional facility. In any case, I find the promptness of the notification comforting as it suggests people who do have something to fear from their offender are also getting immediate notification if their stalker/rapist/domestic assault offender is loose.
* It has been pointed out to me that the richness of Daughter of Smoke and Bone would be hard to capture in a two hour film. I am now wishing for a quality mini-series with a director with the right sort of visual sense and attention to the texture and lyricism of the source material.
* Also, I still really want a Misha Collins Midnighter movie and an Eamon Walker vs. Idris Elba movie. Seriously, these things need to exist in the world.
