* We know Romney's average tax rate for the last two years is 14%. He wants to give himself a 20% tax cut. O.o. That's not hard math at all. The hard math is explaining how that will somehow be for the good of the country.

* The widespread organized Republican voter fraud turns out to be significantly worse than previously thought, yet Republicans continue to argue that rather than deal with the actual voter fraud they are perpetrating, the logical thing to do is deny millions of innocent citizens the right to vote on the grounds that non-existent in person fraud is the real threat, not things like Republicans shredding the registrations of Democrats.

* Why am I making such a fuss over the home inspection? After all, it's mostly to make sure the apartment is safe and the landlord is maintaining it properly. Because the landlord is encouraged to come along. We have an on sight landlord who is very involved in quality of life in the complex, keeping track of who's unsanitary or prone to loud parties. Normally, this works in our favour. I like that the students that surround me are of a quiet, hard working type, and that the new upstairs neighbors, while prone to a bit more thumping in the early evening than the previous set, are incredibly quiet, given the thin walls and floor. Seriously, they can help that we can hear their dishwasher, very infrequent rhythmic bed thumping, and their shower fan any more than we can keep them from hearing our dishwasher and fan. Also, the thumping seems to be mostly over and likely had to do with them unpacking. Compare this to my first apartment up here where the neighbors played Regae so loud at all hours of day and night that it rattled the plumbing and I could make out all the lyrics, or the first neighbors upstairs in the apartment before this who spent hours practicing with a drum set badly, or the meth sellers, or the domestic disturbances or knife fights on the lawn, or the guy who tried to get Squirrel to sell him my meds, or, or, or.... You get the idea. No way would the Landlady let dealers live here. No way would people be allowed to behave as they did in my last two places. She's Johnny on the spot with that stuff, and that's perfect for me and my quiet loving lifestyle. The downside is, we very much can't afford to piss her off. The whole clowder except Hector is being evacuated over night. Squirrel's been doing massive cleaning in my room, and I'm trying to deal with the last patches of unpacking I never got around to and the random small clutter accumulations that happen when you have weeks where just feeding yourself and the animals is most of what you can handle. I've been sick a lot time and have systems designed to keep things clean and organized, but cats add a lot of chaos. I would be happier if she's too busy to come poke around, but I'd rather not gamble with my housing, you know?

* Fish Catastrophe: The otos look a little stressed, but are feeding normally. Today while setting up the lids on the empty beta tanks, I discovered we seem to have lost half the lids in the move, which is a real problem, but one I can worry about, like next year. The floor is down to barely damp. I guess all that practice from the eater heater leak has come in handy as I am now really good at things like cycling towels and effective fan use.

* Greenwick's coming Tuesday to help with stuff and likely hang out after. I am rather excited about it, both for the company and for finally getting the rest of the pictures hung. (It requires a lot of standing on ladders, which simply isn't safe for me). It also means that the postings will likely be late and light. I spent a couple of hours on cleaning and fish equipment stuff. There still is so much to do. Sigh.

* Have y'all heard of the Documentary Of Dolls and Murder? I've been watching it and it's fascinating. It's got all this stuff to say about Art, gender roles, subversion of traditional ideas about what families are like, true crime investigation, and forensics. The art that is threaded through it is just blowing me away. As a side note I'm also fascinated how much the Wire got right about homicide investigation in Baltimore. I suspect it's up a bunch of your alleys too. *cough* Karjack *cough*

* The Seanan McGuire response to demands her heroines be sexually assaulted is now past 300 on my tumblr. I know, not huge by tumblr standards, but huge for someone with as few followers as I have. I am still fascinated by the randomness of what gets picked up. While I don't agree with this person on a bunch of things in the post, I think their response is very well thought out and worth mulling. Also, I am in complete agreement that threatening sexual assault for wanting a fictional character to be raped is still not okay. Sexual assault and threats of sexual assault are never okay: http://ashedmaniac.tumblr.com/post/32679415538/things-i-will-not-do-to-my-characters-ever
