Aug. 12th, 2012 04:40 am* I spotted some orange fry today, which gives me hope I've added enough genetic diversity for the colony to survive. The oto, corys, and blue guppies all look happy and healthy. I haven't spotted the new suckermouth, though the other is grazing normally. The blue platys are acting normally. It looks like their tank has been infected by some guppy fry the the last infusion of elogia. Damnit.
* Olympics Day 12 I think:
Equestrian: Me: "Wait, did that horse just jump the Uffington horse? Clever!" Commentator: "To a really unusual looking vertical. It's the Uffington white horse....." Look, I like watching beautiful horses jump over miniture golf versions of the host country, okay? So sue me.
Athletics: I got to watch long limped men and women flop over the high jump bar and a surprisingly large slice of the decathlon including the pole vaulting. Looks like we kicked butt in the Decathalon. Too bad Americans stopped caring a few decades ago. I think it's an amazing achievement and ought to be celebrated. Caster Semenya won silver! It huge that she had her chance to shine despite all the nastiness and assholery she's faced from envious gender policemen.
Diving: I was sad for Alexandre Despatie. I know it was a miracle he could dive at all given his recent horrible head injury, but still. Yeah.
Okay, the CTV featurette on the history of the Paralympics and cross over athletes? That had me weeping like a child.
