Jul. 12th, 2012 07:58 pm* The investigative report of the Sandusky serial rapes has come out and found that Spanier, Shultz, Paterno, and Curley alerted Sandusky to McQueery's reporting him for raping that child and conspired for fourteen years to cover up the serial child rape, showing no regard for the welfare of the children until they were caught. Yes, Paterno too. Didn't I tell you he wasn't nearly as clean and ethically as the PR said? I trust my Uncle in this matter, and I definitely think the report's findings and the emails about the cover up are in line with each other.
* I'm aware of the competing claims about whether or not Mitt Romney was on was not in charge of Bane capital after 1999. No one disputes he still had all his titles and the legal responsibility for the company for an extra three years. Romney's saying he had no involvement. The President's camp is saying he was taking a CEO salary and was in charge as far as the FEC was concerned, which is also undisputed fact. I have no idea how much input Mr. Romney actually had or if he's lying now or was lying to the FEC. I'm certainly no expert in this area of law, nor am I going to be examining the documents. I am guessing that absent a release of confidential internal documents and, we'll never know. I am not expecting Bane to do that, and without a lot more evidence one way or another I'm not going to take a position as to Mr. Romney's level of involvement orwhich of Mr. Romney's conflicting statement over the last decade or so is the lie and which the truth. I will say, that as a layman, I can see why people of good will could look at official filings saying Mitt Romney was the sole chief executive and chairman of the firm, and assume that meant he was chief executive and chairman of the firm. I think it is unfair to call people liars for citing the firm's own documents as evidence. If Romney and Bain lied on official documents, then accuse them, but it's unfair to call people relying on those documents as evidence names.
* Last night, cat squabbling escalated to full on dominance battles, with LM chasing the boys all over and Mache and the Butt getting into a very viscous five minute battle when he wouldn't back off. Hector is not trying to move up in dominance, so he's mostly getting caught in the Middle and desperate to not be involved. The black cats are both still being protective of him, which is a huge help. The aggression is exhausting for everyone, and I think it's why they are being so clingy with me and each other when they aren't fighting.
* I worked on bureaucracy for an hour and a half, at which point I was queasy and exhausted. Hector spent that time, plus the break I took for brunch howling. Of course. The Butt kept trying to jump onto the paperwork piles. Of course. Mache hid behind my chair and I accidentally ran over her hind leg. It clearly hurts, but Squirrel checked her for breaks and she can put weight on it. I feel like the meanest person in the world. She didn't even come out of hiding for the great kibble decanting. (She hid under the bed between 4-5 hours. She's still limping, but a lot less). I'll do the more complicated stuff tomorrow or over the weekend, I think. I also wasted an hour searching for the checks I ordered just after I moved. (Spare check box location got switched because I was still unpacking. The box is now where I usually keep it. Unnervingly, I think this is the box I couldn't find in the midst of the move, not the new box I ordered, as they have the old address. Facepalm) Healthwise, I'm clearly improving, but still getting random dizzy spells. I still have no clue as to cause, but I'm coping. It helps that the temperature is holding at bearable and I'm getting reasonable sleep. Today's random sleep interruption was a pretty weird one actually. Some random politician woke me up for a Romney style policy conference call. The hell? Frankly, I wanted sleep more than an answer as to WTF, and being barely awake failed to remember her name. It was clearly a local race, as I even asleep, I'd recognize my Senators or Governor. Generally, I don't pay attention to the local races until close to a vote, at which point, I do internet research if the people involved aren't ones I have strong prior opinions on.
