* Today I moved a bookshelf approximately 8 inches to the right. It nearly killed me. I had to pull four shelves, clean them, put them back after. I nearly fell twice.

Earlier, I needed to do a quick ATM run. Our city is doing San Fransisco rules, basically. It was a little eerie driving down the min street on a Friday night and having it be so quiet. There were about the right number of cars for a Thursday, but not a Friday between 7 and 8. About half the restaurants and all the bars were closed. I could see a big carry out only sign on Skye and my favorite date night restaurant. The real difference was the only pedestrians were homeless people, trapped outside in plague city because we only have one shitty men's shelter that's run like a cult so only the most desperate men will use and nothing secular, nothing for women or families or teens. I saw literally one person in a mask waiting for a bus the whole drive home.

It is good and right that people are taking this seriously. It is fundamentally unnerving to see it in action. I washed my hands when I got home first thing, as i was touching the ATM.

* I know some people are understandably anxious about me.

1. I have a good supply of things like pasta and canned soup. I am currently well supplied with everything but bread products and a few perishables, and some super specific things I like, but don't literally need like Jaipur veg ready meals and that one type of oatmeal I really like. I still have a good supply of shelf stable milk and soy milk. There is a plan in place for healthy millenials to do my April shopping for me. I'm not going to starve. I promise.

2. I have a millennial on my living will paperwork as a medical contact. This friend also has my social media passwords and will tell you if anything happens to me that I can't inform you of myself via tumblr and dreamwidth. Odds are if I didn't post at the usual times I just wore myself out with post renovation organization and clean up, or was tired, or had my sleep disrupted again. Please, please don't be distressed if this happens. Again, odds are something will post in this space if anything happens to me suddenly.

3. I know there are starting to be shortages of certain lung medications. I am anal retentive about prescription refills and am extremely well supplied with lung meds in particular because they are essential to be basic functioning. The shortages are so far not in the method of delivery I use and I literally have another box of supplies already ordered and coming next week.

4. I currently have normal spring allergy symptoms, this being Spring, but my lung function is at the upper end of my lung function generally as I wrote this and I have no symptoms beyond my usual chronic stuff that isn't going to go away just because there is a pandemic on. I'll let y'all know if that changes.

I know people are really scared and rightly so, especially for people living in hot zones. Our federal government have failed us because republicans give no fucks if we live or die, but I live in a state and a city that really are trying hard to do what they can. If the pandemic gets me, it gets me. All I can do are take what rational measures I can.

Remember, my psychology is weird. I cope with bad shit happening by starting a staring contest with the abyss and see who blinks first. I'm that person who likes to know exactly what I'm up against. This how I got into aggregation blogging. I'd rather know than not know. I don't panic, and if I need to not look I don't look. This project may look like anxiety, but it's actually calm. This is me studying yet another world crisis the way I studied dangerous adults as a kid in order to survive them. It's what I do. It's also why the usual image and fandom posting is proceeding normally on my tumblr. I find setting that up relaxing.

Odds are your psychology and coping mechanisms are entirely different. Do what you need to take care of yourself, as long as your self care involves the usual pandemic safety precautions. If the news is stressing you out? Don't read the news. Go take a hot bath. Watch something silly. Garden. Read some fiction. Do a craft. Play some online games or do online chat. Eat. Sleep. Everything is easier to cope with if you've had food and sleep.

Do what you need to do mentally and physically. Take care of yourself and each other.

I don't exactly wish for his death, but if this disease takes out Trump and/or any of his lackeys, I won't cry.
