May. 26th, 2012 03:58 am* More Right Wing Christian Terrorism in Georgia designed to stop women getting health care. (I refuse to call anyone who is actively trying to kill live adult human beings "pro-life." I am using the word "terrorism" because if you are killing people with bombs in order to intimidate people so you can impose your political will you are a terrorist. They keep saying this is what god wants them to do, so I think "Christian terrorist" is the correct term). http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26315908/#47572951
* Mitt Romney wants to remind you that his tax plan will raise taxes on the poorest workers by 60% to pay for tax cuts for the rich on the grounds that it's not fair that poor people have it so easy compared to billionaires. while he is pushing this agenda he keeps lying that poor people aren't paying their share of taxes. Payroll taxes take about a quarter of income from the poor. Most states also pay state and/or sales tax which isn't figured into that. Mitt Romney's total tax on his income is at about 15%. Yes, people paying a quarter to half their income in combined taxes don't also pay any or much income tax. They are still taxed at a ridiculously high rate, especially when compared to billionaires, who get special low tax rates on capital gains and have vast tax loopholes. Of course we know regressive tax rates are terrible for the economy and limit social mobility which is why Romney is in favour of them, and against progressive tax rates which would help us build infrastructure, lower the debt, and stimulate the economy. After all who care about providing for the general welfare when you can concentrate all the wealth at the top?
* Remember the stats I was talking about for Obama having the smallest rate of increase of government spending despite Romney's claims that they are record high? Here is a graph showing that: http://browngurlwfro.tumblr.com/post/23677787294/tpmmedia-an-obama-spending-spree-hardly-tpms

* Hector spent most of my sleep cycle howling again. As I had all three fans on, plus the air purifier, turning on the stereo helped. I got crappy sleep, but I still got just enough REM to do one of my whole sleep cycle plot arcs. In the first two thirds, I was playing a vampire hunter clearly modeled on Quincey Morris. I rode a motorcycle and wore all leather, my jacket reinforced with Kevlar. (Riding a motorcycle makes wearing a helmet look less odd and the more armor the better when fighting infectious monsters). My character had a sister who was opening an art gallery, so I went home to help out and celebrate. There was word of an outbreak in Sudan, but nothing local, so I wasn't worried. I helped with the final decoration, the opening party went well. I slept on her sofa. In the morning there were signs of serious disruption outside. These were Stoker Vampires, who needed to sleep in native soil at Dawn, but could daywalk. I armored up and went out to fight. The outbreak was suspicious, spreading way too fast, even assuming it had been spreading in the city quietly for some time. I was too busy with beheadings and impalements to investigate causes. (This was three or four dream segments of escalation and battle interrupted by Hector standing on me to howl directly into my ear). In the final segment, I was playing a character based on Bobby from Supernatural. The boys had dropped me off at the hospital with a gunshot wound and gone off to fight the outbreak. My dream picked up in a recovery room. The outbreak was far enough along that they had quarantine on individual hospital rooms, each room locked with a big sign stating the estimated risk of turning. Armed guards were at intervals along the hall. Known carriers were being put down, but they were still taking in wounded if they weren't sure and putting them down if they turned. (In widespread chaos you get car accidents, gun shot and knife wounds, looting injuries from broken glass, and ordinary stuff like heart attacks still, and things hadn't broken down to the point that there wasn't police, national guard, and hospital, though it was close to tipping point.) Being no idjit, I knew the worse place to be in a big outbreak is in a hospital with a wound through which I could be infected and no armor or weapons. I wanted out, but I needed to gather my strength. My room had a window into the hall, like my Mother's second to last ICU room. I could see the sign on the door across the hall, at it worried me. The patient had been unresponsive and it was unclear if the wounds had been compromised after the car accident. I saw a woman in scrubs go in with a tray of implements and she looked... not careful. I had a bad feeling about t, as the guard locked the door. I couldn't see in, as the curtain was drawn. I sat up carefully, dizzy and in an impressive amount of pain and started to dress. I was picking the lock on my door when I heard the scream and the guards rushed to the room across the hall. I could here the fighting through the open door as I hobbled down the hall. Along the way, I acquired crutches and a scalpel, something being better than nothing and was hobbling across the lot, eyes wary for attacks as I picked a car to hot wire. At this point Hector woke me for good. This constitutes fun for me these days, Vampire hunting in my dreams.
* The nausea was so bad yesterday despite all my anti-nausea drugs I was barely functional and I discovered that spearmint tea tastes almost as good coming up as it does going down. This is always the cue to stop taking my pain meds for awhile. This are already deteriorating painwise, which you could likely tell from my wounded in the hospital dream. I figure I'll hold out until the pain makes sleep impossible, then go back on my drugs.
* So the other two episodes of Glee S:2 showed up.
1. It was a little confusing to jump back like that on arcs and continuity. I caught up eventually, but it did lead to some baffling moments.
2. The thing Finn did to Sam so callously is hard to forgive. He knew how he felt when Puck did it to him, and didn't give Sam's feelings a second thought. Fuck Finn. This was also one of those moments it's hard to like Quinn. I always end up forgiving her, because the costs are always so much higher for her than for everyone else, and because she generally does something cool to balance later.
3. Puck's season two arc pleases me. He still has his asshole moments, but he grows up so much. My theory about Puck is that he hasn't really got a filter between his thoughts and his mouth. Ex: Him asking Sam about balls in his mouth on first meeting him. I like his relationship with Artie; I love his relationship with Lauren. Of course, I just love Lauren. I like the momments that show how much he's grown, like him reaching out to Finn to try to undo some of the damage he's done, while acknowledging that he may have permanently damaged their friendship.
4. Have I mentioned how much I love Beiste? You can see how good a teacher and a person she is in "Sue Sylvester Shuffle."
5 Artie has by far the best zombie make up. I do not understand why he didn't get more close ups.
6. I noticed some serious gender dimorphism on the zombie make up and it bothered me.
7. No killing my Brittany, Sue!
8. Oh, Karofsky.
9. I honestly do not understand why Will Shuester allows the students to treat each other that way in class. Yet more proof that he has no business being in charge of a class of students. I honestly don't understand why Figgins allows slushying, it continues to be proof that he has no business being in charge of anything, let alone a school. The incompetence drives me up a wall on a professional level. I still don't understand why sue is allowed to beat up, push, and attempt to kill (Brittany) students. What kind of professional licensing and assault laws do they have in Ohio? I know it's the point, but it makes me want to slug people. I suppose the systematic incompetence explains why the only competent teacher we've seen so far is Beiste. (I like Emma, but she's not particularly good at her job).
10. "Silly Love Songs" made me want to take a clue stick to Blaine.
11. That thing Blaine says about looking like he knows what he's doing but actually having no clue? Perfection.
12. Have I mentioned lately how much I love Mike's dancing?
By the way, as someone who used to teach for a living, I find Will Shuester both a terrible teacher and a terrible human being. I don't know why some people consider him a hero.
