* There have been a particularly brutal series of IS attacks on Egyptian forces in Sinai. There was also a particularly bad bombing in Yemen earlier this week.

* Two are dead of ebola in Liberia. Thirty neighbors have been quarantined.

* Re: Carolina Shark attacks. Global warming means more sharks are in the area than usual. If you chum the water for fishing right next to where people are flailing about in the water like tasty seals, the occasional shark will get confused and accidentally attack a significantly less delicious human. Killing the sharks is terrible for the environment and it is cruel to invite them with lots of bloody bait and flailing and then murder them for following their instincts.

* I'm really struggling physically, and can't leave my room until the evening cool. On the upside, we captured another incident on the monitor. I'd prefer we caught at least one more between now and the fifteenth, which sounds terrible, but they can't address problems they can't see and there is a threat of another forty days and I'm raising new welts every day now from the adhesive.

* During my heat confinement, I read Point of Knives and watched the Theory of Everything. Point of Knives is a novella bridging point of Hopes and Point of dreams. It has a neat little mystery in it and has a nicely handled gay romance element showing how we get from "too bad he's straight" in the first novel and what I am told will be a full relationship in Dreams. The book is spare as the heavy world building was deftly folded into the first one and the mystery is less epic, but I liked it well enough to read in two sittings.

Theory of Everything was quite good and I appreciated it addressing agency for people with disabilities and the issue of sexuality. So often our culture desexualizes people with disability and this doesn't. It was also beautifully shot and acted. Still, Imitation Game spoke to me more intensely. It had a much tighter plot and theme. Not inappropriately, the "Theory of everything" was a bit unfocused and sprawling. I suspect it is a matter of taste, and I honestly think they were both very good.

* It likely says something fundamental about me that I recently posed my character having body lice in a Game of Bones RP.
