Feb. 18th, 2014 05:12 am* The anti-Democracy protesters in Thailand have been exchanging gunfire with police and have thrown a grenade at police. The protesters have dug into home made bunkers. Meanwhile the government can't pay the farmers for the rice they purchased due to the upcoming elections. It's looking very bad for the government and more and more likely there will be a new unelected government and possibly a completely different governmental system afterward.
* Two Members of Pussy Riot have tweeted that they were detained in Sochi on "suspicion of theft" of a "souvenir" from their hotel room, after having been held for questioning the day before for twelve hours. Riiiight. I'm suspecting a put up job.
* Police were shooting tear gas and rubber bullets at protesters in Ukraine as they charged the ruling party HQ. This was ongoing as I wroite this, so no casualty figures out outcome yet.
* "Poll: Worst President ever:" As bad as the other three were, I voted Andrew Jackson. There's a whole list of reasons, but I could just repeat "Trail of Tears" over and over and that would explain my vote, I think. Although Andrew Johnson's hijacking of Reconstruction in favor of Southern white supremacists makes it a toss up. If it were worst President of the 20th-21st Century, George W. wins my vote hands down, but those other two.... yeah. http://www.msnbc.com/all/poll-worst-president-ever'

* Today's tasks were to do some close shopping (long tailed octopus for fish lights, perishable groceries, soup), sort kitchen box pile, and sort the BPAL trade box and prep two swaps top go out tomorrow. Those things got done, but everything was way more involved than I expected. My body had a melt down, which is time consuming and unpleasant. The BPAL Dragon Caver virtual flower swap got complicated. I found my archival tape, so fixed a bunch of things with it before I could forget again. It dawned on me that I need to empty and swap some shelves before I continue unpacking my bedroom. Hector would not shut up because reasons.
Tomorrow is a downtown loop for library, Post Office, and Pharmacy. Also, hopefully, unpacking lots of things.

* Bitten Query: If women nearly always die when Bitten, and it's an extremely homo-social society, why aren't there lots of gay male werewolves instead of none so far?
* When We Wake was every bit as good as promised. The start was a little slow, but it was worth bearing with it. It's also nice to see a prominent PoC character and a well handled interracial relationship, along with the matter of fact handling of lesbian and trans characters among the most important characters. The politics in this are important, but not preachy and it does some interesting things with fame and image management. I am looking forward to more books by this author.
