May. 21st, 2011 12:11 am* Because eight felons who hadn't realized they had been disenfranchised and three other people accidentally voted in the wrong place, the Republicans in Wisconsin are going to disenfranchise approximately 900,000 people, mostly the elderly, the poor, and the young. Since they have complete control of the state government, there is little chance of stopping them I was wondering how they were going to avoid the wrath of the voters next election. now we know. They are going to essentially make it impossible for anyone who disagrees with them to vote so they can control Wisconsin forever. As a bonus they are planning to fire the police and firefighters and replace them with mercenaries and other private contractors. After all, why have a civil service system based on merit when you can replace all those folks with people who work for the companies of the governor's friends?
I keep asking, why do Republicans hate even our most basic freedoms?
* So it looks like the damage in my spine, including the growth simply aren't severe enough to be causing the symptoms. I honestly don't think I have a brain tumor, but that's what we're checking for next. Once more head first into the damned MRI tube for brain scans, and on to talk to a neurosurgeon, as the guy I've been dealing with mostly does spines. I don't want brain surgery even more than I don't want neck surgery. I also really, really suck at this five days in a row with six hours of sleep or less thing. I can barely walk. Due to a whole lot of unnecessary drama today because they forgot to send a written order for x-rays to the imaging place, I burned a quarter tank of gas and missed the window for swimming. Gah! It's monetarily wasteful, but I doubt I can manage to hit tomorrow's tiny swim window.
* So I've been rewatching the Watchmen. I first read the comic way back in the '80's and like anything complex, I like focusing on a different thing each time I read or watch. This time around, I've been thinking about ( complicity: ) Circles, and circles and circles.
