* The first two Wallstreet protester cases came up before a judge. One was acquitted, the other dismissed, both on the grounds that live streaming video directly contradicted police accounts.

* I've finally seen the English Language Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. I have nothing against the actors, or the way it was set designed, costumed, and shot. My issue is with the way the power balance shifts in Blomkvist's favour in relation to Lisbeth Salandar. I liked it better the other way, where Lisbeth has more control and agency in regards to him. Given all the other things the story is saying about power, control, and the loss of it, I was more comfortable with the Swedish version's characterization, which always had Lisbeth taking back control whenever someone tried to take it from her; by softening her and strengthening Blomkvist, she was less hero and subject of her own story and more sidekick/romantic object. I strongly prefer it the other way. Also, I realize this is a matter of taste, but I preferred the pacing of the Swedish film and the focus on investigation. A slower pace and more collaborative feel just suited the material better in my opinion. I haven't read the book, so can't comment on book vs. movies, alas.
* Blackout comes out Tuesday! *snoopy dance* For those not following, this is the third in the Newsflesh trilogy, following Feed ad Deadline.
