* Key Budget deal points: It lasts until September. The Dickey Amendment went away today, so the CDC is now legally allowed to study gun violence. Also, someone wrote more Russian sanctions into the Budget. There's a massive increase to the military and a smaller increase to domestic spending. There is not DACA fix and money to hire a shitload of more boarder agents and some border wall funding. They've banded border wall building in the Wildlife Preserve. They also aren't extending the ACA cost sharing, nor did they include the Anti-sexual harassment provision that had been discussed, nor protections for the Special Council. So it turns out that people like me who go decades with PRN opiods they only use occasionally and never get addicted are the majority, but you’d never know it, and they’ve been attacking the wrong people instead of taking effective measures that would actually help. And it's not the serious chronic pain daily users who are ODing either, so punishing them by taking away medication they need to function at all is cruel and not helping.

Like I’ve been saying. For decades. So have the studies that politicians and media mostly ignore. Sigh.

* So this week I've been wrestling with chronic pain particularly hard. I still managed to accomplish key activities for subsistence, but I needed to go gentle. Something is still clearly wrong with that one tooth, and I figure I'll take it up with whatever dentist I'm meant to see next week. (The Giant is on Vacation, and I've no idea which name goes with which face.) Still, it's not as bad as it was, and most of the pain I'm dealing with is normal for my debilitating pain, instead of stabbed in the face every time I yawn pain, so that's a win. My suspicion that the thing now wrong with the car is either an intermittent wiring issue or the alternator starting to fail is likely correct according to the Honest Mechanics. It would cost me nearly $50.00 to find out. Odds are Electrical would be 200ish varying wildly depending on ease of finding the problem. Alternator would be 400ish including diagnosis. It's too much to spend on a car with a valve that is tic tic ticing towards death in the engine. Might as well wish for the two thousandish for towing, new brakes, and sorting the similar electrical issue in Squirrel's little gold car. either way it's not happening and I need to learn to adjust to the Spongy Braked behemoth.

Friday's plan was to stay up until the post office opens and take the paid for ebays to mail. There was hardly any line and the early payers were sent off safely. Only the car was entirely dead when I got out. squirrel had said something about wiggling the wires instead of charging it last time, so I opened the hood, attracting multiple helpers, this being the Post Office in a mid-size PNW city. I explained that I might need a jump, but wiggling the wires might solve it, as I didn't want to lose the helpful if small crowd. Wiggling the most obvious wire, did solve it so I thanked the well wishers and drove home. My money is on the wiring issue instead of the alternator. I plan to consult with squirrel, who;'s hands work properly and see if tightening the obvious connectors might sort it for free. If not... well wiggling that wire when the car goes stone dead is something I can live with even if i don't like it.
