* So not only is 45 such a terrible person that he went to a party the night of the mass Shooting in Florida, but he barely managed to squeeze in a cursory visit to the survivors before rushing off to the golf course. Meanwhile, a White house Official wants us all to know how relieved they are that children were murdered as it grants them a "reprieve" from press coverage about their terrible behavior and expressed regret that the murders will fade from the headlines so soon, given how good they are for the Administration.
The worst people in the world are in charge of our country.

* 45 is now insisting that it is entirely President Obama's fault that Republican Mitch McConnell refused to do anything about Russia colluding with 45's campaign as part of a successful attempt to undermine Democracy. Why do the people claiming that they are part of "the Party of Personal Responsibility" never take responsibility for their own actions? They are grown ass adults.
* In retrospect, I am surprised Russia didn't hire thousands of American right wing trolls off Reddit for their election tampering campaign. It likely wouldn't have been that hard to get them to do more of what they were already doing only in a more directed way on the cheap. I suppose their English wasn't up to standard for the elite unit.

* Yuzuru Hanyu was his usual exquisite self at the men's final. I really could watch him forever, and I adored that particular free skate routine from the first time I laid eyes on it. It was the kind of perfection that haunts. I've always been fond of Shoma Uno, who's skating at it's best is right up there with Hanyu's, though alas, this wasn't quite his best. Though close, so close, especially towards the end. It really was wonderful to see Jin Boyang skating up to the potential I always believed was his, and Nathan chen showed so much heart pulling that sixth quad out of the air in a program the likes of which one seldom sees. (It is often said you can't win a competition with a short program, but you sure can lose one. That short program was heartbreaking to watch, but didn't Nathan give his all in that final?)
Javie, though? Damn. I think this is the first time I've ever seen someone skate something sexier than Philippe Candeloro's D'Artagnon, and he managed to do it with modern world class technicals, while also ripping my heart out on his Impossible Dream. I am so happy for him an for Spain, and I think this is a skate I will remember as one of my favorites for the rest of my life. Seriously, I'm still crying happy tears thinking about it.
This is the most I've enjoyed a Winter Olympics this century, and we haven't even gotten to the women yet, from whom I expect great things.
