* The House has voted to completely defund the Election Assistance Commission presumably in response to reporting that the Russians have compromised election databases in 39 states and have interfered with the 2016 elections on all levels, since the Election Assistance Commission exists to fight exactly this sort of tampering. It is looking like Republicans feel that letting Putin delete eligible voters from the rolls and pick winners in our elections is way more important than patriotism, Democracy, etc.. I can't think of a single other reason they would take such strong steps to render our elections easier to hack instead of taking the logical step of dramatically increasing funding for the sake of National Security in the face of evidence that our system is vulnerable. Party before Country seems to once again be the motivating principle for this decision. Every single person who voted for this is complicit. Every single one of them decided they would rather be in power in a Russian client state than take the chance of a fair election in a free country.
