* It looks like Egypt is having a particularly interesting election, which it would be a good idea to keep an eye on. There is some worry that remnants of the old regime my be trying to take back the government.
* I watched the Aung San Suu Kyi and David Cameron press conference in it's entirety. As many of you know, she is one of a hand full of human beings that I unreservedly consider one of my heroes. Her speech was incredibly moving and I can only hope that she and her party really have won Democracy for her country and that things are really going to be all right finally. I do think that suspending rather than immediately lifting international sanctions make sense as the military has pretended to loosen up before, then come down hard on opposition politicians and suspended elections before. It's too soon to trust that they mean it this time, but suspending all but the arms embargo may very well encourage the military to let election results stand while not fully lifting them allows quick action if they back slide. After spending my whole adult life watching the military government's cruelty, I'm still trying to get my head around the idea that it may really be over that the people there may finally soon be truly free.
* I see Romney's out lying about the President again. This time on the basis of a whole bunch of imaginary laws that don't exist undermining the 2nd Amendment. After all, why let the facts get in the way of a good straw man argument?
* Arizona has officially defined life as starting before conception, IE: the end of your last period. To be clear that means your unripe eggs are people, but sperm aren't. Sigh.
* This includes a round up of laws Republicans passed this week in an effort to strip even more basic rights way from women including the above: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26315908/#47047344

The material in there involving trans folk is spot on, BTW.
* Today I woke up with a deep lung cough and a kidney infection. Hector is of course having a howl inconsolably day. I keep knocking things over because I'm in too much pain for fine muscle control. Hector can not understand why I'm not patient with his need for be to follow him around at his constant beck and call. It's also day three of hector related sleep deprivation. I have one antihistamine left to last the rest of the month. Update: after he had time to digest his meds and squirrel sorted out Greenwick's sweatshirt, which Hector has coopted as mesting material, he finally shut up and took a nap.
* Proof Jennifer Lawrence is cool: “I loved working with both Josh and Liam, but as far as Katniss is concerned, I think that with all she has going on, the very bottom of her priorities list is the question of who her next boyfriend is going to be.”
